It’s the season of gathering together. Whether you’re nestling in for a movie night or catching up over a cup of joe, this time of year is centered around the home. There’s nothing better than filling your interiors with details that will leave all guests in awe. Read on to discover eye-catching coffee tables we’ve styled in recent projects! We know you’ll love these timeless pieces as much as we do, well in to 2023 and beyond.

Rope Coffee Tables Offer Beautiful Texture without Overwhelming Your Interior

Who said coffee tables have to be boring? In our Scottsdale interior design project, Camelback Country Estates, we added this beautifully textured coffee table made from hand-braided Pandan leaves. Neutral in color, this piece is the perfect balance of showstopping and subtle. It draws guests in without overwhelming the overall interior. What more could you ask for?

Subtle Texture with a Linen Coffee Table

For an even more subtle pop of texture, consider incorporating a linen coffee table into your home. This table’s body is wrapped in a linen fabric sealed with a lacquered finish to ensure the piece is well-protected in high-traffic living spaces. The details don’t end there! We love how this table also features a recessed edge to give the illusion that it’s floating above the ground. Finding this unique piece still has us floating on Cloud 9!

Wood Coffee Tables Never Go Out of Style

We love the organic and timeless look wooden coffee tables add to interiors. This circular table was the perfect piece to style between two sofas in The Estates Project to encourage conversation. Simple in design, we opted to style the tabletop with a book, vases, and a few of our other go-to accessories.

Add a Contemporary Touch with a Glass Coffee Table

We’re all about transformational design from floor to ceiling and from finishes to furnishings. Add a contemporary touch to your home with a glass coffee table. In our Paradise Valley interior design project, Fanfol, this table’s glass top floats above three wooden spheres. We selected this piece with cohesion in mind and love that it mirrors the circular structure of nearby side tables.

Metal Coffee Tables – Great for Minimal or Detail Designs!

At first glance, this may look like a beautifully bare table, perfect for achieving a minimal look. But what if we told you that upon a closer look this modern table is actually filled with details sure to capture any design lover’s heart?

Made of cast and hand-forged iron with a black finish, this table’s edge is comprised of brass-finished detailing, which ties in beautifully with the black and brass chandelier hung just above this piece. We can’t get over the subtle “wow” factor it brought to the living space in our Cave Creek interior design project, Montevista.

Classic Marble Coffee Tables

You can never go wrong with the classic marble and gold combination. Nesting coffee tables like this one in our Phoenix interior design project, Calle Lejos, are easily stackable and moveable, making them the perfect solution for smaller spaces. Plus, who doesn’t love a layered look?

An entryway is where first impressions are made, so it’s important that it sets the tone for the rest of the home. Combining modern and Moroccan, this geometric rug’s pop of pattern is the perfect way to draw guests into our Montevista Project.

We know how intimidating prints can be for homeowners, but oftentimes pattern is just what the interior needs to make a memorable statement. Featuring the same black and ivory tones found in nearby details, this geometric rug added a beautiful and balanced feel to our project’s entryway.

Bonus: the durable weave made it an ideal piece for a high-traffic space like this one!

Solid Rugs Can be Stylish without Being Boring

We’re all about incorporating color and pattern in an approachable way, like we did in our 83rd Place project. In a neutral interior like this one, a rug with a pop of color is great to style alongside quieter elements as it keeps the design interesting and eclectic without going over the top. The over-tufted dot design also adds a subtle and intriguing texture to the space. Who said solids have to be boring?

Hide Rugs are Not Going Out Style

When it came to adding sophistication and comfort to our Calle de Pompas Project, we looked no further than this cowhide rug. Its organic shape was a beautiful complement to the dining space’s small circular table. The rug’s natural texture and dark tones also added a warm and masculine touch to the interior.

Elegant Black and White Rugs are Always a Good Idea

How to Style with a Jute Rug

That’s why in our Ironwood Project’s primary bathroom, our goal was to create a serene, organic feel with touches of glam throughout. This textured jute rug gave us the best of both worlds! Its high contrast made a statement, while its natural texture kept the space feeling simple and grounded.

Rattan: A New Design Trend to Weave Into Your Interiors

Rattan: A New Design Trend to Weave Into Your Interiors

Today we’re sharing a design trend that you’re going to want to weave into your interiors ASAP. Dating back in popularity for centuries, rattan is a natural material commonly woven into wicker. Formerly used to accessorize a home’s outdoor areas, rattan is now making it’s way inside and we can’t help but swoon over the organic and serene feel it adds to a room. Read on for four ways to incorporate this trending texture into your home!

Rattan Furniture

One way we’ve been incorporating rattan into recent client projects is through furniture. In our Montevista Project, we incorporated a large rattan cabinet to serve as the focal point for this room. Our clients couldn’t get enough of the soft, textural twist this modern piece added to the space!

Rattan Accessories

If you’re not convinced you love rattan enough to commit to investing in large furniture pieces, try incorporating pops of this material into your home through accessories! Whether styled on a shelf or hung on a wall, small details, like this storage box, are perfect for bringing a touch of warmth and texture into any space.

Rattan Seating

In the heart of our Ironwood Project’s kitchen, we incorporated counter stools with rattan on the back rest. Subtle yet striking, this detail brought a refreshed and modern take on retro into the space. We love how it tied together the neutral tones incorporated throughout the surrounding kitchen!

Rattan Lighting

Though commonly woven into wicker, rattan is a versatile material that does not always have to be. Consider incorporating the material into your home as lighting! We styled this strong and durable vine in our Fairway Project’s family room as an intricate and modern light fixture. Chandeliers are like the jewelry of your home, and we love how this unique fixture instantly draws guests in.

Project Reveal: Montevista Pt 2

Last month on the blog, we shared a peek inside a flip property we purchased in need of a modern makeover. One of our most-complimented design projects to date, we couldn’t be more excited to share the remainder of this re-imagined, contemporary Cave Creek home!

A Refreshed Kitchen

Starting off in the heart of the home, there were a few updates needed to elevate the look of the kitchen. We started by giving the cabinets a fresh coat of paint and swapping out the outdated crown molding for something with a more modern profile.

Next, we wanted to maximize the space on the island. Originally containing two levels with a bar top, we leveled it to one surface and re-used old cabinets as photo doors on the face of the island to make it look larger. To further refresh the space, we added a new backsplash, countertops, and beautiful globe pendants.

Right off the kitchen, guests are greeted by the breakfast nook, which was originally separated from the family room by a bar that we opted to remove for an open concept. For styling, we added this beautiful table, light fixture, custom Roman shade, and, of course, black chairs for contrast.

Back in the kitchen, we swapped the built-in hood that came with the home for one that was more contemporary. We also opted to bring the new backsplash up to the top of the hood to elongate the look of the space.

Make an Entrance with this Modern Dining Space

At Living With Lolo, we know how to make an entrance. This modern dining space welcomes guests immediately upon entering the home. To maximize wall space, we added a stunningly detailed, wooden sideboard and hung custom art just above. Filling in the remaining space we styled a dining table, chairs, and a modern-retro chandelier.

dining room interior design cave creek

Right off the dining room is this sitting room. Because guests walk into one large room upon entering this house, we were intentional in giving each space its own feel by adding a unique light fixture to each.

interior designer cave creek

For styling, we added a rug, coffee table, customer drapery, and chairs with blue clay fabric. Because you know we love balancing beauty with functionality, we also added this stunning rattan cabinet, perfect for hiding not-so-glamourous household goods.

A Sophisticated Primary Bedroom

This project’s primary bedroom had these gorgeous, large bay windows. To give the space purpose in the bedroom, we added a chaise, concrete side table, and custom drapery. We love how sophisticated and inviting this corner turned out!

custom drapery cave creek

Similar to this space’s family room, the primary bedroom also had an oddly placed window that we wanted to remove. To improve functionality of the space and create more area to work with, we applied an opaque film to the window that we then drywalled over. For a point of interest and unique detailing, we lastly added a grass cloth wallpaper over top. Next, to fill the interior, we added several large furnishings, including an upholstered bed, chests (as opposed to nightstands to maximize wall space), and simple yet striking lamps.

Project Reveal: Montevista Pt 1

In 2021, we decided to invest in a flip property in need of a modern makeover. Our goal with our Montevista project was to bring the home from dark and dated to airy and contemporary. Read on for a first look inside this project!

A Light & Bright, Welcoming Entryway

Starting in the entryway, guests are immediately welcomed into a freshly painted, light and bright space. For a contemporary edge, luxury vinyl flooring and new baseboards with a thick profile were incorporated throughout the home. Not only do we love the finished look of luxury vinyl flooring but we also love that it can be laid overtop of existing tile, saving our clients the money and mess of a demo.

renovation designer Phoenix
Contrasting these details, we painted the front door a deep gray shade and incorporated pops of the same color throughout the space with a woven geometric rug, console table, and light fixture. On top of the console, we styled a cement lamp, complementing the adjacent cement artwork.

Added Home Value with Stylish Updates

In the bar area right outside the kitchen, we added a fresh coat of paint to the original cabinets, new hardware, and new quartz countertops. To make the space feel more open, we also removed the upper cabinets and replaced them with a glass and brass shelving unit.

top interior designers in Cave Creek

Adjacent to the kitchenette, we aimed to increase the value of the home by transforming the former office into a bedroom by adding a closet and custom-made door.

bathroom interior designer cave creek

This powder bathroom’s transformation might be one of our favorites! Formerly featuring an outdated bird wallpaper, we brought an elevated and modern feel back into the space with new wallpaper, a vanity, a gold mirror, and matching hardware.

best interior designer Cave Creek

Doesn’t this corner make you want to have a seat and swing a while? To maximize and add purpose to this empty space in the home, we styled a hanging chair and table. We also updated the existing cabinetry by adding fresh paint and hardware.

Refreshed Kid’s Bathroom

Similar to other spaces in the home, we opted to keep the original vanity in the kid’s bathroom and add a fresh coat of paint. From there we added new hardware, plumbing, and mirrors to match.

interior design bathrooms cave creek
Rather than extending the luxury vinyl floors into this space, we opted to demo the floors and add a fun hexagon tile. We completed the space with new shower tile as well!

Stunning Family Room Designed for Function and Form

Did anyone else’s jaw drop when they laid eyes on this space? We love how the basalt stone, pop-out fireplace we added gives this family room a point of interest and intention. Flanking the electric fireplace, we removed some of the pre-existing built in cabinetry and added new cabinets and floating shelves. Lastly, we tied it all together with a fun chandelier!
functional interior design phoenix

Would you believe us if we told you that this room originally had a window where the artwork is hanging? To improve functionality of the space and create more area to work with, we applied an opaque film to the window that then drywalled over. From the exterior of the home, it looks like the window is closed by draperies, and from the interior, you can’t tell there is a window there at all!

top interior designer cave creek

In the remainder of the space, we styled some side tables, chairs, a custom sofa, a faux potted tree, and floor-to-cieling custom drapery to accentuate the height and space in the room. We love the unique and elevated look the custom pieces added to the interior!

5 mistakes to avoid when decorating your house . Scottsdale AZ . Interior Design

Have 5 Mistakes to Avoid When Decorating Your House

Ready to switch things up and redecorate your house? Looking for tips on how to best do it? What about learning about what NOT to do? Let’s look at 5 common mistakes to avoid when decorating your house.

 living room sets

Painting as soon as Possible

Giving a fresh coat of paint can be really tempting especially if you just moved into a new place. But before repainting everything, make sure to know how you are going to decorate the room, have all your furniture in place, and spend time really understanding the space you are working with.

Do you know how it looks like throughout the day? Is it a bit too dark or is it bright enough?

Make sure to also test the color on the wall beforehand to see how it reacts with the texture and the environment of the room.

It’s important to make sure all furniture + flooring is covered prior to painting to avoid any overspray.

redecorate your house

Buying Furniture too Quickly

By trying to get everything done as quickly as possible, you might end up with a decor that isn’t what you were looking for, and furniture you don’t actually love.

Never buy furniture in a rush. Go see them once, twice, picture them in your living room. Don’t buy everything at once but incorporate things into your decor step by step. This way you will really be able to put furniture and decorative pieces together that highlight one another instead of overpowering them.

It will feel way more finished and well thought out if you take the time to live in the room and let it guide you to what you need next.

I would suggest starting with the big pieces of furniture first such as a sofa or a bed and then designing the rest of the room around it.

Try to Make Everything Match

You know those living room sets where you get everything all at once and it all looks the same? Avoid falling into that trap. If it will give a uniform look to your room it will also lack originality.

Furniture pieces don’t need to perfectly match in order to go well together. Unmatch furniture will bring a more modern look to your space.

Find some common ground amongst pieces of furniture such as wood stains, patterns, or colors to tie everything together.

decorate the room

Adding Plants at the Last Minute

If you want plants to be a part of your decor (and we recommend you to as it really adds a lot of positive energy to the room), don’t wait till the last minute when everything else already has a spot. Plants can really have an important space in your decor if you let them play their role.

Make sure to save a spot for them in the room when you are redecorating and pick plants that you can take care of properly. Don’t worry if you don’t have a green thumb, you can get low-maintenance plants such as ferns or fiddle-leaf figs.

If you don’t have a green thumb, make sure to visit a nursery to have them help select the best plant for your space given lighting conditions.

Scottsdale Interior Design

Buying Small Rugs

By having a rug that is too small for the room, you are missing on a great opportunity to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Placing a large rug under your couch or a table will help make the space feel bigger. The rug creates then a focal point and helps define the area better.

Layering multiple rugs is a great idea if one of your rugs is too small but you don’t want to get rid of it.

We love Jaipur + Loloi rugs!

Whether you are moving to a new place and need to redo everything, or you want to give your home a fresh look, don’t rush it! Learn from these common mistakes and take time to understand the space you are working with better. If you need any help and support, contact us today!

How to Make Your Home Look More Modern in Only 5 Tips

Do you walk into other modern houses wishing yours looked at as new, as fresh, as cool? The good news is that you might be able to achieve a similar look with only a few arrangements. You’ll be surprised to see how much of a difference it can make!
Scottsdale Interior Design

1. Get Rid of Plastic Packaging

Take the habit to remove all the plastic packaging laying in your house. -Use a soap pump for your dish soap in the kitchen and for the hand soap in the bathroom -Use mason jars for your dry condiments in the kitchen instead of the plastic bags -Use a glass water bottle instead of a plastic one. Walk around and look at all the disposable plastic packaging you have and make the switch to durable options. Not only will it look much better and will give your entire house a more modern look, but it will also help you to reduce the amount of waste you produce. You can start buying your items in bulk and transfer them to your beautiful recipients once home.
Scottsdale Interior Design

2. Use More Glass Elements

The use of glass is a great way to make your space look more modern. You can add a glass sliding door or a glass dining table or coffee table for example. Big windows are also a great hit in modern design. Since glass is a transparent material it helps to make your space look bigger and let more light in. We love to also add glass through a pretty mirror and accessories
Scottsdale Interior Design

3. Mix Neutral Colors With Dark Hues

Modern design like using the contrast between a neutral color and a dark bolder one. Having a piece of furniture that stands out or painting one wall in black in your bathroom or bedroom for example will bring attention and provide a sense of comfort to the room. For bathrooms, you can also pick dark tiles to add contrast.

4. Add Texture

Adding texture to an interior makes it look more intriguing. Change your rug, add throw pillows or blankets. We love to add texture through custom upholstery with great fabric! Drapery with an amazing textured fabric is also a great addition to your home.
Scottsdale Interior Design

5. Pick Geometric Shapes

Modern homes are characterized by their geometric shapes and straight lines. The easiest way to implement those in your home is through the furniture you pick. Choose rectangular or square furniture pieces with none or very few soft, curved lines.

6. Add Big Art Pieces

If you are afraid to turn your home into something impersonal, don’t worry. Modern doesn’t have to be cold. Pick a big piece of art that has meaning to you and can be highlighted in the room.

7. Declutter

Last but not least, to keep your space looking modern, make sure to keep it simple and decluttered. When in doubt, go for a more minimalist lifestyle. That will help keep everything tidier. Empty countertops, organized shelves, clean coffee tables… It will all work together to give your space a modern and peaceful look. Every home is different.
