Phoenix Magazine Best Interior Design Award 2026

Living with Lolo has won the Phoenix Magazine Best Interior Design Award for the third consecutive year, following wins in 2024 and 2025. The 2026 win confirms Living with Lolo as the best interior design Scottsdale homeowners have voted for three years running, and it is the kind of recognition that comes only from consistent results, not a single standout project.

This award is given by Phoenix Magazine to recognize excellence in interior design across the greater Phoenix metro, including Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia, and the surrounding communities. For our clients, it confirms what they have already experienced firsthand. For us, it is a reminder of the standard we hold ourselves to on every project, from the first design consultation through the final punch list.

Phoenix Magazine

Best Interior Design 2026

Third Consecutive Year

What This Award Means for Clients Searching for a Designer

When you are comparing options for an interior designer Scottsdale AZ homeowners actually trust, the number of firms competing for your attention can be overwhelming. Awards like this one give you a credible, third-party signal that a firm has a demonstrated track record, not just a well-produced portfolio.

Phoenix Magazine's Best Of awards are reader-driven and editorial, which means they reflect the opinions of real people across this community, not a paid placement or a single judge's opinion. Three consecutive wins means that year after year, people across Scottsdale and the Valley keep coming back to Living with Lolo as the answer to who does this best here.

We do not take that lightly. It drives how we hire, how we run projects, and how we think about every decision from the first walkthrough to the final installation day.

Three Consecutive Wins: What 2024, 2025, and 2026 Have in Common

Living with Lolo first won the Phoenix Magazine Best Interior Design Award in 2024. We won again in 2025. Winning a third time in 2026 is what separates a firm that had one great year from a firm that has built something repeatable.

Each of those three years included a different mix of projects: whole-home renovations, new construction collaborations, and full furnishing packages across Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Arcadia. The common thread was not a single design style. It was the process, and the fact that Lauren Lerner and the same core team touched every one of those projects from concept through installation.

If you want a sense of what that process looks like in dollars and timeline, our guide to kitchen remodel costs in Scottsdale breaks down what a single room renovation typically involves. Whole-home projects scale from there.

"Three wins is not something you plan for. It is something you earn, one project at a time, one client at a time."

Lauren Lerner, Living with Lolo

Award-Winning Interior Design in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Arcadia

Our work is concentrated in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia, and the broader Phoenix metro area, including Silverleaf and DC Ranch. These are markets where the standards are high, the homes are exceptional, and clients know the difference between design that looks good in a photo and design that actually works for how people live.

That distinction is at the core of everything we do at Living with Lolo. We are a full-service interior design and licensed general contracting firm, which means we handle both the design and the construction under one contract. Most of our projects are whole-home renovations, new construction collaborations, or significant remodels that require both disciplines to move in lock step. Having both under one roof removes the friction that tends to derail timelines and budgets when a designer and a separate contractor are pointing fingers at each other.

This is a significant part of why our clients' projects turn out the way they do. The design is not handed off to a contractor who interprets it differently on-site. The people who designed it see it through to the final day.

Why a Licensed General Contractor Credential Changes the Client Experience

Living with Lolo holds an active Arizona general contractor license, ROC #347577, in addition to our interior design credentials. That license is not a formality. It means we can pull permits, manage structural changes, and take legal responsibility for construction quality on the same project we designed, instead of stepping aside once the drawings are finished.

Most interior design firms in Scottsdale hand a finished design off to a separate general contractor, and the client becomes the go-between when the two do not agree on a detail. With Living with Lolo, there is one point of contact and one team accountable for the outcome from the first sketch to the final walkthrough. Clients who have worked with a design-only firm and a separate GC on a previous project tend to notice this difference immediately.

You can see the range of finished work this produces in our portfolio, spanning whole-home renovations, new builds, and full furnishing projects across the Valley.

What Sets Living with Lolo Apart

Every firm that wins this award has something that sets it apart. For us, it comes down to a few things we are not willing to compromise on.

We work on a limited number of projects at a time. This is intentional. Taking on too much volume is the fastest way to dilute the quality of what we produce. Our clients get direct attention from Lauren and the core team throughout the entire project, not a handoff to a junior designer after the first meeting.

We also believe luxury interior design has to work for the people who live in it. A house that photographs beautifully but creates daily friction is not a successful project. We spend time upfront understanding how our clients actually live, what matters to them, what they hate about their current space, and what they cannot live without. That research drives every decision that follows.

Finally, we hold the construction side to the same standard as the design. The finishes, the installation quality, and the attention to detail on the build side reflect on the design. We are responsible for all of it, and we treat it that way.

Recognition Beyond Phoenix Magazine

The Phoenix Magazine award sits alongside other recognition Living with Lolo has earned. Our work has been featured in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Vogue, Martha Stewart Living, The Wall Street Journal, and GQ. In 2026, Living with Lolo was also named to the Inc. Regionals list of fastest-growing companies in the Southwest.

None of that recognition changes how we approach a single project. But it does mean that when you hire Living with Lolo, you are hiring a firm that a wide range of independent publications, editors, and now three consecutive years of Phoenix Magazine readers have all pointed to as one of the best in this market.

What to Look for When Comparing Interior Design Firms in Scottsdale

An award is a useful signal, but it should not be the only thing you weigh when hiring a designer for a significant renovation. A few questions tend to separate a firm that will deliver from one that will not.

Ask whether the firm is licensed to manage construction, not just design it. A design-only firm will hand your project to a general contractor you have to vet separately, and you become responsible for coordinating between the two. A firm with an active general contractor license, like Living with Lolo's ROC #347577, can manage both under one contract and one point of accountability.

Ask to see completed work at the scale of your project. A firm that specializes in single rooms may not be the right fit for a whole-home renovation, and the reverse is also true. Review a portfolio of similar projects before you commit.

Ask how the firm structures fees, and get it in writing before signing anything. Understanding our design and construction process upfront, including how decisions get made and how change orders are handled, prevents surprises later. And ask how many active projects the team is running at once. A firm juggling too many clients cannot give any single project the attention a luxury renovation requires.

These are the same standards we hold ourselves to, and they are part of why Phoenix Magazine readers have named Living with Lolo the best interior design firm in the Valley three years running.

How Much Does a Full-Service Interior Designer Cost in Arizona? (2026 Guide)

How Much Does a Full-Service Interior Designer Cost in Arizona? (2026 Guide)

A full-service interior designer in Arizona costs $75,000 to $2 million or more, depending on whether the project is furnishing only, a full remodel, or new construction with a licensed contractor managing the build. Scope moves that number more than square footage does.
This guide breaks down what drives full-service interior design pricing across Arizona's luxury markets, including Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia, and Silverleaf, with real project ranges instead of national averages that understate what this market actually costs. It also covers what full service includes, how design-build pricing compares with hiring a designer and a general contractor separately, and what to expect at each investment level.

What "Full-Service" Actually Means in Arizona

"Full service" gets used loosely across the design industry, so it is worth being specific about what it covers before talking about cost. At Living with Lolo, a full-service engagement includes concept development, space planning, material and finish selection, furniture and fixture procurement, vendor coordination, and white-glove installation. For clients who also need construction, full service extends further: permitting, trade coordination, site supervision, and punch-list management through the final walkthrough.
Not every firm offers all of this under one roof. Many interior designers stop at selections and hand the project to a separate general contractor, which is where communication gaps and change orders tend to creep in. Lauren Lerner and the Living with Lolo team hold an active Arizona ROC general contractor license, ROC #347577, which means design and construction are managed under a single contract instead of two. That structure, combined with recognition as Phoenix Magazine's Best Interior Design three consecutive years (2024, 2025, and 2026), is a big reason Arizona homeowners consolidate design and construction under one firm rather than two.
If you are trying to figure out whether your project needs full design and construction management or just design services, our interior design services page breaks down the different engagement types available.

How Full-Service Pricing Is Structured

Full-service interior design fees in Arizona are typically structured one of three ways: a flat project fee, a percentage of the total project cost, or a combination of a design fee plus a procurement markup on furnishings and materials. Percentage-based models are common on design-build projects and usually range from 10 to 20 percent of total construction and furnishings spend.
For a $500,000 project, that translates to a design fee between $50,000 and $100,000 before any furniture is purchased or a contractor is hired. Flat fees work better for narrowly defined scopes, such as furnishing two or three rooms, where the deliverables are clear from the start.
Living with Lolo scopes every project before work begins, so clients know the design fee, the estimated procurement budget, and the construction envelope up front. Homeowners comparing proposals across Scottsdale and Paradise Valley firms should ask exactly which of these fee structures a designer uses, since the same total spend can look very different depending on how it is broken out.

Real Cost Ranges by Full-Service Project Type

Numbers are more useful with context, so here is what full-service investment actually looks like across common project types in Arizona.

$75,000 to $450,000 or more: Furnishing Only

This tier covers projects where the home's layout and finishes stay the same and the scope is furniture, lighting, art, and styling. A two- to three-room furnishing project starts around $75,000, while a full-home furnishing package for a larger residence can run $450,000 or more depending on square footage and finish level.

$400,000 to $1.5 million or more: Remodel With Full-Service Design

Projects that combine construction, such as kitchen and bathroom remodels, structural changes, or whole-home renovations, with full interior design and furnishing typically fall in this range. A whole-home remodel across 4,000 to 7,000 square feet with new finishes throughout often lands at the higher end.

$500,000 to $2,000,000 or more: Full Design-Build

This is the most comprehensive tier: design, construction management, procurement, and installation under a single contract with Living with Lolo as the licensed general contractor. New construction interior design and large-scale renovations with significant structural work fall here.
These ranges reflect real projects quoted and completed in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Arcadia over the past 18 months, not theoretical estimates from a national calculator.

What the Data Shows About Full-Service Costs

Every cost guide should be measured against outside data, not just one firm's project history. The 2026 Houzz & Home Study puts the national median kitchen remodel at $24,000, and the study found that the top 10 percent of renovation projects nationally reach $150,000 or more. In Arizona's luxury market, that top-tier national number is closer to the entry point for a full kitchen remodel with premium finishes.
Home values help explain the gap. Zillow data shows the average Paradise Valley home value at $3.45 million as of early 2026, up 13.5 percent year over year. Scottsdale and North Scottsdale communities like Silverleaf and DC Ranch carry similarly high price points. When a home is valued in the millions, a design and construction budget scaled to a $24,000 national median kitchen remodel does not match the finish level, materials, or expectations of the homeowner or the resale market.
This is the context that matters most for anyone budgeting a full-service project in Arizona: national averages are a starting reference, not a target.

Why Scottsdale and Paradise Valley Cost More Than the National Average

Beyond home values, a few Arizona-specific factors push full-service costs higher than national medians. Custom millwork, imported stone, and high-end appliance packages are common requests in this market and carry premium pricing regardless of location. Construction timelines in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley also tend to compress around the traditional October-to-April season, which can add cost when trades are in high demand.
Neighborhood-specific requirements matter too. Homes in Silverleaf and DC Ranch often have HOA architectural review processes that affect timeline and design decisions, while Paradise Valley estates frequently involve larger square footage and more extensive outdoor living space than a typical remodel. Arcadia renovations often include older homes with structural updates that add scope beyond cosmetic work.
None of this means Arizona pricing is arbitrary. It reflects a market where home values, finish expectations, and project complexity all run above the national norm.

Design-Build vs. Hiring a Designer and a Contractor Separately

One of the biggest cost variables in a full-service project is whether design and construction are managed by one firm or two. When a homeowner hires an interior designer and a separate general contractor, each party typically adds its own markup, and miscommunication between the two teams often leads to change orders that add both cost and time.
Living with Lolo holds ROC #347577, an active Arizona general contractor license, which means design and construction are managed under one contract. Clients working with an integrated general contractor and designer in Scottsdale typically see fewer change orders and less cost duplication than those coordinating two separate firms. This does not always lower the sticker price, since a licensed design-build firm still charges for the same scope of work, but it reduces the coordination costs and delays that inflate a separately managed project's final cost.
For homeowners evaluating proposals, it is worth asking every firm whether design and construction are handled in-house or handed off to a subcontracted GC.

How to Budget for a Full-Service Project in Arizona

Before setting a number, get specific about scope. Walk through every room involved and separate what is changing from what is staying, since that distinction affects the estimate more than total square footage. Then build in a contingency of 10 to 15 percent of the total budget for any project that includes construction, since unexpected conditions inside existing walls are common on renovation work.
Timeline affects budget too. Furnishing-only projects typically run 3 to 6 months from concept to installation, while design-build projects that include construction usually take 6 to 18 months depending on scope.
Homeowners planning a project in Scottsdale kitchen remodeling or a full bathroom renovation should also ask for a written breakdown separating the design fee, construction budget, and furnishings budget, since bundling these into one number makes it difficult to compare proposals across firms.
If you are researching an interior designer in Scottsdale or planning a project anywhere in the Phoenix metro, a discovery call is the fastest way to get a realistic number for your specific home and scope.

How Much Does Interior Design Cost in Phoenix, AZ? (2026 Guide)

Interior design fees in Phoenix range from $75 to $250 per hour for hourly engagements and $5 to $17 per square foot for full-service residential design, with whole-home project budgets typically running $50,000 to over $300,000 depending on scope, finish level, and whether construction work is involved.
Phoenix has one of the most varied interior design markets in the Southwest. You have mid-century ranch homes in the Biltmore corridor sitting alongside new construction in Ahwatukee and full gut renovations in Arcadia. The range in project types means the range in costs is just as wide. If you are budgeting for a design project in Phoenix and want to understand what you are actually paying for, this breakdown gives you real numbers to work with.

What Drives Interior Design Costs in Phoenix

Three things move the needle more than anything else: scope, finishes, and whether construction is involved. A purely decorative refresh with new furniture and window treatments costs a fraction of a full gut renovation with new flooring, cabinetry, and tile throughout. Phoenix also has a wide range of home ages, from 1950s ranch houses to brand-new builds in the outer suburbs, and older homes often carry hidden costs once walls open up.The type of designer you hire also affects cost. Hourly rates in Phoenix range from around $75 to $300 per hour for experienced designers. Most established firms work on a flat project fee, a design fee plus a percentage markup on furnishings and materials, or some combination of the two. A full-service interior designer in Phoenix handling everything from concept through installation typically works on a project fee or a combination approach.

Full-Home Renovation Costs in Phoenix

For a full whole-home renovation in Phoenix, expect to invest between $150,000 and $450,000 for a 2,500 to 4,000 square foot home, depending on the condition of the home and the level of finishes selected. Homes in older neighborhoods like Arcadia and the Biltmore area often require more structural and mechanical work alongside the design, which pushes costs higher than a newer home with intact bones. The breakdown typically looks like this. Construction and trades represent roughly 60 to 70 percent of total project costs. Furniture, fixtures, and finishes make up 25 to 35 percent. Design fees account for the remaining 5 to 10 percent. On a $300,000 renovation, that puts design fees somewhere between $15,000 and $30,000, which is consistent with what most full-service designers in Phoenix charge for a whole-home project. For reference, Phoenix interior design services at the luxury level typically start at around $200,000 for a full renovation with all-in costs including construction, finishes, and furnishings.

Room-by-Room Cost Ranges in Phoenix

If you are renovating room by room rather than doing a whole-home project, here is what individual spaces typically cost in Phoenix at the luxury level:Kitchen: $60,000 to $150,000 for a full kitchen renovation with custom cabinetry, stone countertops, and professional-grade appliances. Kitchens are consistently the most expensive single room because of the combination of cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, and appliance costs. For a detailed breakdown, see our guide to kitchen remodel costs in Scottsdale.Primary bathroom: $30,000 to $80,000 for a gut and rebuild with tile work, custom vanity, soaking tub, and steam shower. Phoenix bathrooms increasingly feature indoor-outdoor elements and spa-style finishes that push costs toward the higher end of this range.Living room: $20,000 to $60,000 for furnishings, window treatments, lighting, and art, without major construction. If the project includes built-ins, a fireplace, or flooring replacement, add $15,000 to $40,000.Primary bedroom: $15,000 to $45,000 for furnishings, window treatments, and finish work. Custom closet systems add $8,000 to $25,000 on top of that.

What You Get at Different Budget Levels

At $75,000 to $125,000 for a partial renovation, you can typically expect to redesign two or three key rooms, update flooring, replace light fixtures, and refresh paint throughout. This budget works well for buyers who purchased a well-maintained home and want to personalize it without a full gut renovation. At $150,000 to $250,000, a full first-floor renovation becomes realistic. This covers kitchen, living areas, and primary suite with quality finishes across the board. Most of the projects in our Phoenix portfolio fall in this range. At $300,000 and above, a whole-home transformation is achievable. This includes structural changes where needed, custom cabinetry throughout, high-end appliance packages, natural stone surfaces, and custom furnishings. See our Quiet Luxury project as an example of what full investment looks like in execution.

How Living with Lolo Works in Phoenix

Living with Lolo is a licensed design-build firm based in Scottsdale, which means we handle both the design and the construction through one team. This matters in Phoenix because coordinating separate contractors and designers is one of the most common reasons renovation projects go over budget and over schedule. Having design and construction integrated keeps decisions moving faster and reduces the gap between what was designed and what gets built.Lauren Lerner, founder and principal designer at Living with Lolo, leads every Phoenix project personally from initial consultation through final installation. That hands-on involvement means the client relationship stays direct throughout the process, not routed through project managers or sub-teams. Lauren Lerner's background combines formal interior design training with licensed general contracting, which gives Living with Lolo the ability to manage both aesthetics and construction under one contract. What the Data Shows About Interior Design Investment in Phoenix

National cost guides routinely understate what full-service interior design actually costs in the Phoenix metro. The 2026 Houzz & Home Study reports that homeowners who hire a professional interior designer for a major renovation spend a median of 43% more on their projects than those who manage design independently, and report significantly higher satisfaction with the outcome. In Phoenix and Scottsdale, where finish expectations and project complexity exceed national norms, that investment gap is even wider.
For local context: Zillow data puts the average Paradise Valley home value at $3.45 million as of early 2026, up 13.5% year over year. In a metro where luxury home values move at that pace, design decisions made during a renovation directly affect resale position. Under-investing in design is one of the most common ways otherwise well-funded projects lose value at the finish line.

Frequently Asked Questions About Interior Design Costs in Phoenix

How much does an interior designer charge per hour in Phoenix?
Interior designers in Phoenix typically charge $75 to $250 per hour depending on experience, firm size, and project complexity. Lauren Lerner and the Living with Lolo team work on a project-based fee structure for most engagements rather than hourly billing, which gives clients a clear budget from the start of the project rather than an open-ended meter running. If hourly is the right fit for your scope, that can be discussed during the discovery call.
What is the average cost of interior design for a full home in Phoenix?
A full-home interior design project in Phoenix ranges from $50,000 to over $300,000 depending on the size of the home, the finish level, and whether the project involves construction or renovation. Design fees alone typically run 15 to 30 percent of the overall project budget. In Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, where homes are larger and finish expectations are higher, full-home projects frequently exceed $150,000 in design fees alone before furniture and construction are factored in.
Does Living with Lolo charge a design fee and a construction fee separately?
Because Living with Lolo holds both an interior design credential and Arizona General Contractor License ROC #347577, the firm can structure fees in a way that reflects the actual scope of work rather than billing you twice for two separate companies. The fee structure is discussed transparently during discovery, and clients receive a clear project agreement before any work begins. There are no hidden markup structures or separate design-and-build invoicing surprises.
Is it cheaper to hire an interior designer in Phoenix vs. Scottsdale?
Design fees in Phoenix proper and Scottsdale are comparable at the luxury level. The cost differential in those markets is driven less by designer location and more by home size, finish expectation, and whether the project involves permitted construction. A 2,000 square foot townhome renovation in Phoenix will cost less than a 6,000 square foot estate renovation in Scottsdale regardless of which designer handles it. Living with Lolo works across the full Phoenix metro including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia, and DC Ranch.
What does a $150,000 interior design budget buy in Phoenix?
At $150,000, you can typically complete a full primary suite redesign, a kitchen remodel with custom cabinetry and stone surfaces, a great room transformation, and have budget remaining for a guest room or powder bath. That scope covers furniture, art, lighting, window treatments, and all finish selections. Construction costs for permitted work are typically in addition to the design budget at that level. Lauren Lerner and the Living with Lolo team provide a detailed scope framework at the start of every project so you know exactly what your budget delivers before any money is spent.
How do I know if Living with Lolo is the right fit for my project?
Living with Lolo works with clients whose projects are at a minimum budget of $15,000 for smaller scopes and more typically $100,000 or above for whole-home or multi-room projects. The firm specializes in high-end residential design and renovation across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Arcadia. The best first step is a 15-minute discovery call where Lauren Lerner can hear about your project, confirm whether it is the right fit, and give you an honest early read on scope and timeline before either side commits to anything.

The Biltmore area sits at one of Phoenix's most coveted addresses. Anchored by the historic Arizona Biltmore hotel and surrounded by mature desert landscaping and mid-century homes, this neighborhood draws homeowners who want something specific: a Phoenix address with genuine character, and an interior design approach that honors what the architecture already is.

Living with Lolo works with clients throughout Phoenix, including the Biltmore corridor. The homes here are distinct from what you find in newer suburban construction. They're often ranch-style builds from the 1950s through 1980s, with good bones, interesting proportions, and original details worth keeping. Getting them right takes a different kind of intention than starting from scratch.

What Makes Biltmore Homes Different

Biltmore-area homes were built when Phoenix was still finding its identity. Many sit on generous lots with mature landscaping that took decades to grow. The architecture tends toward clean lines, low profiles, and an integration with the outdoor environment that newer builds try to replicate but rarely achieve.

The interior challenge with these homes is honoring what is structural and meaningful while updating everything around it. A 1965 ranch house in Biltmore should not look like it was designed yesterday. It should look like it was designed with intention, respecting the era it came from while functioning at a completely contemporary level.

That means carefully considered material choices: natural stone, unlacquered metals, linen and wool textiles, hand-applied plaster finishes. Nothing that fights the architecture. Everything that builds on it.

Full-Service Interior Design in Phoenix

Living with Lolo is a full-service interior design and construction firm based in the Phoenix metro. We handle everything from space planning and finishes selection through construction management and installation, which means we're responsible for the whole outcome, not just the parts that photograph well.

That matters in the Biltmore specifically because many of the renovation projects here are complex. Structural walls get removed. Kitchens get reconfigured. Outdoor living spaces get connected to interiors in ways the original builders never intended. Doing that well requires someone who understands both design and construction and can coordinate both under one roof.

Our work in Phoenix spans full home renovations, kitchen and primary suite remodels, and whole-home furnishing projects. If you've been searching for an interior designer in Phoenix, you likely already know that the market ranges widely in terms of scope, approach, and involvement. What we offer is design-led construction: the aesthetic vision and the technical execution, together.

The Biltmore Aesthetic

Clients in the Biltmore area typically know what they want but have a hard time describing it. Something like: refined, not overdone. California-influenced but definitely Arizona. Warm but not rustic. Modern but not cold.

We'd describe it as warm minimalism with material depth. Plaster walls instead of drywall that simply got painted. Stone surfaces with visible character. Wood tones that shift in different light. Furniture with good scale and real fabric. Lighting that's considered rather than default.

The Biltmore is also one of Phoenix's more walkable corridors, and that affects how people live at home. There's less emphasis on large formal rooms and more on spaces that flow well between inside and outside, that can hold a dinner party but also feel right on a quiet Tuesday morning.

Our Phoenix Portfolio

Our Phoenix work includes projects in Arcadia, the Biltmore corridor, central Phoenix, and surrounding areas. In Arcadia, we completed a major whole-home renovation that repositioned the layout and introduced material choices that feel native to the desert without being theme-driven. You can read more about our approach to Arcadia interior design and the specific aesthetic that neighborhood calls for.

We've also worked on projects throughout central Phoenix, including Home Plate Hideaway, a project that required balancing a strong personality brief with residential quality that holds up well over time. And Quiet Luxury, a Phoenix project that is exactly what the name suggests.

Each project starts with an honest assessment of what the home already is, what the client actually needs, and what the construction budget can realistically accomplish. We don't oversell scope and we don't under-deliver on finish level.

Working With Living with Lolo in the Biltmore Area

Our process starts with a discovery call, followed by a design consultation where we walk through the home, discuss the project scope, and give an honest assessment of timing, budget ranges, and what's achievable.

Lauren Lerner, founder and principal designer at Living with Lolo, leads each Biltmore project personally from the initial walkthrough through final installation. Lauren Lerner's experience with complex residential renovations, including structural changes, reconfigured layouts, and indoor-outdoor connections, makes her well-suited to the kinds of projects this neighborhood demands. See the full range of design and construction services Living with Lolo offers.

Named Phoenix Magazine Best Interior Design 2024, 2025, and 2026, Living with Lolo is one of the most recognized design-build firms in Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area. Lauren Lerner holds ROC #347577 as a licensed general contractor in Arizona, which means Living with Lolo can pull permits, manage structural trades, and take full accountability for both the design and the build.

From there, clients who move forward enter our design phase, which covers programming, space planning, materials and finish selection, and full construction documents. Our construction phase is managed in-house, with our team overseeing all trades and keeping communication direct throughout.

If you're in the Biltmore area and looking for an interior designer who handles both design and construction, we'd like to talk. You can reach us through our contact page or book a consultation directly.

For clients also exploring nearby neighborhoods, we work throughout the Phoenix metro including Arcadia and the broader Phoenix area. Our Phoenix interior design services page covers full scope, services, and what to expect when working with us.

Frequently Asked Questions About Biltmore Interior Design

How much does interior design cost in the Biltmore area of Phoenix?

Interior design in the Biltmore typically runs $150,000 to $450,000 all-in for a full whole-home renovation, depending on scope and finish level. Many Biltmore homes are mid-century builds that require structural updates alongside cosmetic changes, which affects total project cost. Design fees generally represent 5 to 10 percent of total project costs.

What makes Biltmore renovation projects different from other Phoenix neighborhoods?

Biltmore homes tend to be older, which means projects more frequently involve structural changes, reconfigured layouts, and updated mechanical systems. That complexity makes working with a licensed design-build firm like Living with Lolo particularly valuable, since design and construction oversight are handled under one contract rather than split between separate firms.

Is Living with Lolo a licensed general contractor in Arizona?

Yes. Living with Lolo holds ROC #347577 as a licensed general contractor in Arizona. This allows the firm to pull permits, manage structural and mechanical trades, and take full accountability for the construction. Most interior designers cannot legally oversee construction work. Working with Living with Lolo eliminates the need to hire and coordinate a separate GC entirely.

What areas near the Biltmore does Living with Lolo serve?

Living with Lolo is based in Scottsdale and works throughout the Phoenix metro, including Arcadia, Paradise Valley, central Phoenix, and the Biltmore corridor. Lauren Lerner leads each project personally. To discuss your project, schedule a consultation.

What Color Countertop with White Cabinets?

What Color Countertop with White Cabinets?

Your kitchen is the heart of your home, and within its walls, it both gathers and gives. It’s a space that should feel as welcoming as your grandmother’s pie and as comforting as her old quilt. The canvas of this haven is largely decided by your choice of countertop. In turn, this communicates with your cabinetry. This is the reason that people are searching Google for ‘what color countertop with white cabinets’ and ‘do white cabinets with white countertops work’. You’re in the right place!

White Cabinets in Scottdale

Contrast and Complement

So, what color countertops go with white cabinets? With white cabinets, the world—or at least the color— is your oyster. One route you can take is to dress these panels with shades from the deepest sea—think granite countertops with specks of crystalline blue. The resulting contrast is like the night sky, catching the starlight, or the ocean’s edge touching the sandy shore; you’ll feel amazed every time you enter the room.

On the other hand, if you want a more tranquil approach, lighter hues can create a sense of spaciousness and calm. Marbles of pale grays, with faint wisps of veins that nearly match the color of your cabinets, look like mist  at sunrise—muted, yet filled with the promises of the day. The key is to either dazzle with contrast or soothe with subtle similarity.

Practical Considerations

But in this waltz of colors, aesthetics are not the only partner. Durability takes the floor, and maintenance is close behind too. Black quartz may hold the beauty of a starless night, but it can sometimes seem dusty in the moonlight of everyday life, fingerprints and dust making unwelcome constellations. Conversely, a light, misty gray engineered stone may not share the same allure, but its practicality offers a nice, firm grounding for your culinary creations.

Lighting is also an often-neglected partner as you consider popular countertops with white cabinets. Natural light can both amplify and soften colors, making a matte black surface, for instance, a reflection of twilight elegance in the sunset’s glow. But you’ll have an abyss in the harsh brightness of noon. It’s well worth contacting an expert in Cave Creek interior design because this is where their skillset will come in handy.

Color Countertop with White Cabinets

Summary

You want countertops for white cabinets – but it’s a commitment to emotions and experiences rather than just a color choice. It’s the sizzle to the quiet simmer of your home life, providing a backdrop for the cherished moments that occur. Therefore, choose wisely, but choose with your heart, for the countertop you select should not just reflect the light—it should show off your personality. With white cabinets, in this grand performance of interior design, your countertop stands center stage. Make sure its color speaks to you, and in return, it will resonate with all who enter your culinary theater (we’re assuming you’re a culinary genius, of course!).

6 Most Popular & Timeless Coffee Tables that You’ll Love

It’s the season of gathering together. Whether you’re nestling in for a movie night or catching up over a cup of joe, this time of year is centered around the home. There’s nothing better than filling your interiors with details that will leave all guests in awe. Read on to discover eye-catching coffee tables we’ve styled in recent projects! We know you’ll love these timeless pieces as much as we do, well in to 2023 and beyond.

Rope Coffee Tables Offer Beautiful Texture without Overwhelming Your Interior

Who said coffee tables have to be boring? In our Scottsdale interior design project, Camelback Country Estates, we added this beautifully textured coffee table made from hand-braided Pandan leaves. Neutral in color, this piece is the perfect balance of showstopping and subtle. It draws guests in without overwhelming the overall interior. What more could you ask for?

Subtle Texture with a Linen Coffee Table

For an even more subtle pop of texture, consider incorporating a linen coffee table into your home. This table’s body is wrapped in a linen fabric sealed with a lacquered finish to ensure the piece is well-protected in high-traffic living spaces. The details don’t end there! We love how this table also features a recessed edge to give the illusion that it’s floating above the ground. Finding this unique piece still has us floating on Cloud 9!

Wood Coffee Tables Never Go Out of Style

We love the organic and timeless look wooden coffee tables add to interiors. This circular table was the perfect piece to style between two sofas in The Estates Project to encourage conversation. Simple in design, we opted to style the tabletop with a book, vases, and a few of our other go-to accessories.

Add a Contemporary Touch with a Glass Coffee Table

We’re all about transformational design from floor to ceiling and from finishes to furnishings. Add a contemporary touch to your home with a glass coffee table. In our Paradise Valley interior design project, Fanfol, this table’s glass top floats above three wooden spheres. We selected this piece with cohesion in mind and love that it mirrors the circular structure of nearby side tables.

Metal Coffee Tables – Great for Minimal or Detail Designs!

metal coffee table Phoenix interior design.

At first glance, this may look like a beautifully bare table, perfect for achieving a minimal look. But what if we told you that upon a closer look this modern table is actually filled with details sure to capture any design lover’s heart?

Made of cast and hand-forged iron with a black finish, this table’s edge is comprised of brass-finished detailing, which ties in beautifully with the black and brass chandelier hung just above this piece. We can’t get over the subtle “wow” factor it brought to the living space in our Cave Creek interior design project, Montevista.

Classic Marble Coffee Tables

You can never go wrong with the classic marble and gold combination. Nesting coffee tables like this one in our Phoenix interior design project, Calle Lejos, are easily stackable and moveable, making them the perfect solution for smaller spaces. Plus, who doesn’t love a layered look?

5 Ideas for How to Style Lamps in Your Home’s Interior Design

5 Ideas for How to Style Lamps in Your Home’s Interior Design

Great design consists of layered illumination. As you begin your next seasonal home refresh, aim to incorporate a mix of lighting sources. Lamps not only serve as statement pieces, but they also provide dimension and can set the mood of a room entirely! Read on for a look at a few lamps we’ve styled in recent interior design projects.

Desk Lamps Can Be Stylish and Functional

how to style a desk lamp

The first lamp we always recommend sourcing is a desk lamp. In the corner of our Fairway project’s primary bedroom, we added a small desk area for our client to get work done from home. We styled a beautifully arched desk lamp to not only tie in the other brass elements found throughout the room but also provide a light source to ensure productivity.

Brighten Your Bedside with a Stylish Nightstand Lamp

mid-century modern wallpaper bedroom remodel Phoenix

Sometimes lamps can be artwork themselves! In our Scottsdale interior design project, The Estates, we styled a modern, ceramic lamp on top of the two nightstands flanking the upholstered bed. Balancing both beautiful and practical, nightstand lamps are a great source of light on dimmer days. In bedroom areas, aim to find a lamp with shades that can help contain the light to avoid disturbing any nearby nappers.

Make a Statement with a Floor Lamp

Floor lamps can serve as beautiful statement pieces in any interior. We love that this brass floor lamp from our Marshall Ave interior design project is adjustable and can be molded to fit into nearly any space. This versatility will allow the piece to live in our client’s home for years to come. One of the top tips we share with clients is to not be afraid of investing in quality pieces like this that they love!

Beautiful Entryway Lamp

Have you ever laid eyes on a more beautifully intricate lamp? We can’t get over how the color of this lamp from our Cave Creek interior design project, Calle De Pompas, complements the adjacent artwork and accent wall. It’s the perfect touch to make guests feel right at home as soon as they enter.

Don’t Forget about Hallway Lamps

Last but not least, lamps always sit pretty on cabinets or console tables. Inside this cutout in our 83rd Place project, we opted to maximize space by styling a ceramic table lamp, artwork, and various accessories. We kept all of these details neutral to avoid overwhelming the space, and we love the subtle yet striking effect it had on the overall setup!

Geometric Rugs Make a Statement

An entryway is where first impressions are made, so it’s important that it sets the tone for the rest of the home. Combining modern and Moroccan, this geometric rug’s pop of pattern is the perfect way to draw guests into our Montevista Project.

We know how intimidating prints can be for homeowners, but oftentimes pattern is just what the interior needs to make a memorable statement. Featuring the same black and ivory tones found in nearby details, this geometric rug added a beautiful and balanced feel to our project’s entryway.

Bonus: the durable weave made it an ideal piece for a high-traffic space like this one!

Solid Rugs Can be Stylish without Being Boring

solid textured rug trends

We’re all about incorporating color and pattern in an approachable way, like we did in our 83rd Place project. In a neutral interior like this one, a rug with a pop of color is great to style alongside quieter elements as it keeps the design interesting and eclectic without going over the top. The over-tufted dot design also adds a subtle and intriguing texture to the space. Who said solids have to be boring?

Hide Rugs are Not Going Out Style

cowhide rug style trend

When it came to adding sophistication and comfort to our Calle de Pompas Project, we looked no further than this cowhide rug. Its organic shape was a beautiful complement to the dining space’s small circular table. The rug’s natural texture and dark tones also added a warm and masculine touch to the interior.

Elegant Black and White Rugs are Always a Good Idea

High-contrast and high-impact color palettes are our love language, so it’s no wonder why this black and white rug was love at first sight for us. Its sleek and elegant colorway is just what our Silverleaf project’s entryway needed to draw guests in.

How to Style with a Jute Rug

Project Reveal: Marshall Ave Pt 2 . Phoenix AZ . Interior Design

In our previous post, we revealed the common spaces of our recent Marshall Ave project, a creative job for a female client who was ready to step out of the box with her home’s interior design.

In this post, we’ll cover the master bedroom and bathrooms, all of which are funky and sophisticated and total head-turners!

Starting in the master bedroom, a really playful wallpaper became the backdrop to the entire space. The client knew she wanted a bright pop of color for her bed as well, so those were our jumping-off points. Don’t you love this turquoise upholstered bed frame that we settled on?

marshall ave project reveal

The master is a big space, so beyond the statement bed, we wanted to find some chests that were really large. Our team landed on these dark wood ones that have great texture and details, like the juxtaposing clear and gold knobs. We love how eclectic yet elegant this room turned out to be.

home’s interior design

In the master bathroom, we wanted to continue the unique and playful vibe we created in the bedroom while creating a feminine and spa-like oasis. A custom gray soaking tub made for something different and totally sets the space off. The wallpaper on the back wall behind the tub provides texture and a high-design detail. Custom cabinets under the vanity have an interesting cut-out handle, another upscale aspect that sets the space apart.

master bedroom design home interior design

In the home’s powder room, the client had a specific look she was going for — “moody” — with dark tile and wood. The “wood” we used here is actually tile, making for a durable solution in the space. An unexpected, sparkly pendant light adds a bit of interest and juxtaposition to the otherwise very neutral and textured design elements.

We’ll leave you with this shot of a vignette in the entryway, featuring a piece of art that’s the perfect representation of this home’s design — organic, neutral with a pop of color, and an eclectic sensibility. We loved envisioning and bringing to life this creative space for our client, and we love getting to share it with you!

Designing this unique and sophisticated, yet playful, home for one of our mature female clients was a highlight of our 2020. It was a creative project and the client really trusted us to create the perfect space for her. She allowed herself to step outside of the box, which we love and ran with!

interior design phoenix

Stepping into the entryway, we set the scene for the entire home. While the art steals the show here, the sideboard and accessories complement the look, creating a vignette full of texture and earthiness. Our client absolutely loved this scene and we used it as inspiration for the rest of the design.

Moving into the dining room, eclectic pieces merge together to create a design full of conversation starters. The piece of art on the wall is something that the client already owned and wanted to incorporate into her space. With the addition of the glamorous gold and crystal light fixtures, plus a more neutral rug, dining chairs, and table, the whole look came together beautifully.

interior design phoenix

The living room centers around this comfortable custom sectional, which just begs people to come and sit down. Shots of blue throughout the space bring a freshness but still creates a serene vibe. The client requested swivel chairs positioned by the fireplace so she could sit and look out of the window. Luckily, these chairs — which feature a blue dot pattern — were our favorite, so they inspired the rest of the room’s design.

interior design phoenix

In the beautiful, bright kitchen, we installed updated cabinets and countertops, rich, warm wood floors, and statement lighting. The client was unsure about the light fixture above the dining table at first but ended up trusting us and it worked out perfectly! The unique round dining table with a mixed material base, plus the upholstered chairs with the gold frame, help make this space sophisticated yet totally hip.
