6 Most Popular & Timeless Coffee Tables that You’ll Love

It’s the season of gathering together. Whether you’re nestling in for a movie night or catching up over a cup of joe, this time of year is centered around the home. There’s nothing better than filling your interiors with details that will leave all guests in awe. Read on to discover eye-catching coffee tables we’ve styled in recent projects! We know you’ll love these timeless pieces as much as we do, well in to 2023 and beyond.

Rope Coffee Tables Offer Beautiful Texture without Overwhelming Your Interior

Who said coffee tables have to be boring? In our Scottsdale interior design project, Camelback Country Estates, we added this beautifully textured coffee table made from hand-braided Pandan leaves. Neutral in color, this piece is the perfect balance of showstopping and subtle. It draws guests in without overwhelming the overall interior. What more could you ask for?

Subtle Texture with a Linen Coffee Table

For an even more subtle pop of texture, consider incorporating a linen coffee table into your home. This table’s body is wrapped in a linen fabric sealed with a lacquered finish to ensure the piece is well-protected in high-traffic living spaces. The details don’t end there! We love how this table also features a recessed edge to give the illusion that it’s floating above the ground. Finding this unique piece still has us floating on Cloud 9!

Wood Coffee Tables Never Go Out of Style

We love the organic and timeless look wooden coffee tables add to interiors. This circular table was the perfect piece to style between two sofas in The Estates Project to encourage conversation. Simple in design, we opted to style the tabletop with a book, vases, and a few of our other go-to accessories.

Add a Contemporary Touch with a Glass Coffee Table

We’re all about transformational design from floor to ceiling and from finishes to furnishings. Add a contemporary touch to your home with a glass coffee table. In our Paradise Valley interior design project, Fanfol, this table’s glass top floats above three wooden spheres. We selected this piece with cohesion in mind and love that it mirrors the circular structure of nearby side tables.

Metal Coffee Tables – Great for Minimal or Detail Designs!

At first glance, this may look like a beautifully bare table, perfect for achieving a minimal look. But what if we told you that upon a closer look this modern table is actually filled with details sure to capture any design lover’s heart?

Made of cast and hand-forged iron with a black finish, this table’s edge is comprised of brass-finished detailing, which ties in beautifully with the black and brass chandelier hung just above this piece. We can’t get over the subtle “wow” factor it brought to the living space in our Cave Creek interior design project, Montevista.

Classic Marble Coffee Tables

You can never go wrong with the classic marble and gold combination. Nesting coffee tables like this one in our Phoenix interior design project, Calle Lejos, are easily stackable and moveable, making them the perfect solution for smaller spaces. Plus, who doesn’t love a layered look?

We hope this blog post helped you gain some inspiration on which coffee table you may want to style in your home! For more design trends, tips, and project reveals, subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Instagram.

Tapestry Wall Hangings

Upscale tapestry, anyone? We believe in strategically layering bold patterns, colors, and textures with quieter elements to create an interior that is interesting and easy to live with. This tapestry beautifully balances both subtle and show-stopping in our Fanfol Project. Despite being neutral and relaxed in color, the texture on this piece still demands the attention of all it encounters and we’re here for it!

Carved Concrete Wall Art

It’s time to bolden-up your neutrals! In our Montevista Project, we leveraged the power of neutrals to experiment with bolder textures. The intricate curves of this concrete wall art are carved in all the right places, adding just the right amount of intrigue to this home’s entryway. Doesn’t it draw you in?

Paper Shadow Box Wall Art

Part of our design expertise is knowing how to mix and layer bold elements into a space to make it interesting and stylish. We were able to do just that in our Marshall Ave project. To avoid going over the top or creating too much of a good thing, we styled this neutral paper shadow box above this beautifully styled console table. We love how the wall pieces’ height elongated the look of the walls too!

Volcanic Ash 3 Dimensional Art

There’s nothing better than helping clients step into their bravest, boldest selves through home design. To do this, we aim to introduce color, pattern, and texture in an approachable way. This volcanic ash, three-dimensional wall art is subtle in color, but don’t be fooled… its corners and curves create a unique statement piece that simultaneously catches and restricts light in a captivating way. We loved playing with shadows by styling this artwork next to a nearby window in our Fanfol Project.

5 Great Ideas for How to Use Mirrors in Your Interior Design

Mirror, mirror on the wall, which design detail is our favorite of them all? If you’re wanting to add depth, balance, or brighten up the look of a space overall, look no further than adding a simple or statement mirror to your interiors. Its reflective properties are ideal for creating the illusion of space and maximizing the lighting in any room. Keep reading to discover how we’ve incorporated this timeless home decor piece into a few of our recent interior design projects!

Decorating with Special, Irregular Shaped Mirrors

interior decorating with mirrors

In the entryway of our Fanfol Project, we styled two abstract, brass mirrors. We opted to hang one from the wall on one side and rest the other on the console cabinet. Strategically located adjacent to several windows, the placement of this piece was selected to reflect the natural light and brighten up the interior of the home. Likewise, the abstract shape of the mirror added a fun, artful touch to the room as well!

Maximize Wall Space with Arched Floor Mirrors

how to use mirrors in interior design

Also in our Fanfol Project’s mid-century modern dining room, we added two brass arched floor mirrors. The piece’s classic and sleek silhouette made it a timeless, high-quality addition that will never go out of style. Large in size, these mirrors were perfect for maximizing blank wall space and elongating the look of the room overall.

Add Character with a Fun Round Mirror

how to use round mirrors interior design

In our Fairway Project’s primary bedroom, we wanted to create a beautifully designed space, where our client could feel inspired to get work done. In order to achieve this and to fill in the wall space above the desk, we hung a fun and sophisticated round mirror. For a cohesive look, we opted to order the mirror in black to tie in the black accents found throughout the bedroom.

You Can Never Go Wrong with the Classic Rectangle Mirror

how to use mirrors in interior design

Moving further into our Fairway Project’s children’s bathroom, we styled matching rectangle mirrors above the double sinks. The antique brass brackets were the perfect complement to the brass hardware incorporated throughout the bathroom. Hovering slightly above the wall for added dimension, we love the modern impact and balance this pair of mirrors brought to the space!

Simply Sophisticated Square Mirror

They say simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, and this mirror a prime example of that! Suspended by a slim iron bar, this square mirror is the epitome of modern-minimal charm. Located ajacent to the front door and windows, the placement of this piece is perfect for maximizing light in this project’s entryway.

Project Reveal: Fanfol Pt 2

Last month on the blog, we shared a sneak peek inside our latest Paradise Valley interior design project, Fanfol. In this home, our goal was to create a gorgeous space filled with details that made it livable and well-suited for our client’s relaxed lifestyle. Read on to explore the remainder of this beautiful project!

The Master Bedroom with Details You’ll Love!

We love incorporating unique details into our client projects and this interior is full of them. First, we added a handmade wallpaper to serve as the focal point of the room and instantly draw guests in. We hand-selected a blue from the wallpaper to then paint on the ceiling for added intrigue.

After taking a closer look inside, guests may notice unique detailing that sets our bed selection apart from any other. This dipped bed has it’s natural wood exposed at the top, while the bottom half is coated in white paint. Such a subtle, yet noteworthy detail!

Flanking the bed, we styled two large lamps on top of white, fluted dressers. By keeping the furniture neutral, we really allowed the accent wall and ceiling detail to shine! Talk about “no wrong side of the bed” in this primary bedroom.

A Masculine, Golf-Inspired Guest Bedroom

In the guest bedroom, our client asked we keep his love for golf at the heart of our design choices to complement the golf medals and photos he planned to display in the interior. This inspired us to add a green accent wall and a masculine grouping of furniture, including an upholstered bed with leather accenting. Adjacent to the bed, we styled a multi-material lamp on top of a beautiful nightstand with cane detailing, two shades of wood, and brass finishes, all atop a complementing black and ivory rug.

A Feminine, Pink Guest Bedroom

To satisfy our client’s request for pops of pink in the second guest bedroom, we applied a coat of light pink paint to our board and batten accent wall and a vintage, pink rug to further warm up the space. Keeping the furniture light and neutral to prevent overwhelm, we styled an upholstered bed flanked by two nightstands with brass and marble detailing. We also set up a small seating area in the corner of the room for guests to comfortably lounge in the space.

To finish off the interior, we opted for adding a fluted console table as opposed to a dresser. This our go-to cost-effective solution for spaces like guest bedrooms, where drawers likely won’t get much use.

A Lively & Fun Powder Bath Remodel

This powder bathroom was such a fun space to work on! We started by adding a grasscloth wallpaper comprised of white and brass detailing. Next to the accent wall, we hung a unique mirror with hair-on-hide and brass edging. Lastly, to further bring life into the space and incorporate more of the brass detailing, we added a brass planter above the lavatory.

Design Where Luxury Meets Livable

In the seating area in one of the bedrooms, we hung custom drapery and added this modern, brass iron chair with a soft-curved structure and cream-toned cushions. We love when luxury meets livable in details like this!

The Home Theater Room Design Everyone Will Enjoy

Our client’s movie room was already near completion at the start of our project. Because the accent wall, flooring, and back-row recliners were already installed, we wanted to make sure any finishing touches added to the space really made it feel unique and personal to our clients.

home theater room design paradise valley

For a cozy feel, we added a custom sofa that complemented the blue from the flooring and a few cacti near the movie screen. For functionality, we also added a coffee table and a few side tables. Above the pre-existing bar area, we hung movie posters highlighting some of our clients’ favorite films. Lastly, we added custom lighting to really give the space that iconic, movie theater feel.

Every Theater Needs a Bathroom

In the bathroom off the movie room, we aimed to mirror the details found throughout the movie room overall. First, we incorporated a blue mirror above the pre-existing vanity to tie in the blue from the movie room’s flooring and custom sofa. Then, we added dark wallpaper to remain consistent with the theater’s dark walls. Lastly, we tied in another movie poster to give one of our client’s favorite movies a moment to shine.

Project Reveal: Fanfol Pt 1

For the past few months, we’ve been sharing sneak peeks on
social of our latest Paradise Valley remodel project. We are so excited to finally begin unveiling this project’s full reveal on our blog. Read on to explore our Fanfol Project!

A Entrance Worth a “Wow”

At Living With Lolo, we know how to make a grand entrance. Upon entering the home, we aimed to draw attention to the interior’s high ceilings and architectural detail by adding black paint for contrast. To further draw the eye upward, we added a stunning chandelier with brass detailing and crystal-looking pieces made out of alabaster. We can’t get over the “wow” factor it added to this space!

Interior Design Paradise Valley

For the remainder of the entryway, we stuck with a neutral palette and styled a black and white rug, custom upholstered bench, and a console cabinet. This cabinet balances beautiful and functional as its storage is perfect for items that our clients can quickly grab as they head out the door.

On top of the console cabinet, we styled two abstract, brass mirrors, which we opted to hang from the wall on one side and rest on the table on the other. In the reflection of the mirror, you’ll notice a beautiful textural piece we ordered. Handmade with wool, this detail goes down as one of our favorites we styled in this home.

Incorporate Shapes for Added Design Interest

Whether it’s an arched cabinet, mirror, or circular side table, we love incorporating unique shapes into our client projects for added interest. Adjacent to the custom, upholstered sectional topped with custom pillows, we styled a stunning circular side table made out of shag green and marble. Peeking out from behind the sofa is a stunning, arched glass cabinet, perfect for displaying treasured items and luxe details.

custom furniture paradise valley

For the interior’s centerpiece, we added a custom wood and glass coffee table that mirrors the circular structure of the nearby side table. To complement the neutral pieces throughout the space, we added neutral artwork and hand-finished leather chairs filled with design-forward details.

The Mid-Century Modern Dining Room

Outfitting the large black table in this project’s dining space, we added ten mid-century modern leather chairs. We can’t get over how beautifully sculpted the oak frames and float-like cushions look!

mid-century modern dining room remodel paradise valley

Reminiscent of the brass and crystal-like chandelier in the home’s entryway, we also added two flush mount fixtures made of brass and crystal above the dining table. Wouldn’t you like to be invited to a dinner party in this space?

cane and wood sideboard cabinet paradise valley

Behind the dining table, we included a cane and wood sideboard just below custom floating shelves, which we styled with neutral accessories and artwork.

Don’t Forget the Backyard

Is there anything better than a summer getaway in your own backyard? We furnished our clients’ outdoor area by adding a cement dining table and metal chairs with custom rope detailing. When selecting this furniture, we made it a priority to ensure the pieces would be long-lasting and durable enough to withstand the Arizona climate.

An Interior Designer’s 5 Favorite Kinds of Greenery & Faux Plants

An Interior Designer’s 5 Favorite Kinds of Greenery & Faux Plants

An Interior Designers 5 Favorite Kinds of Greenery & Faux Plants

There’s no better way to bring life into your home this Spring than with greenery and faux plants. Historically signifying nobility and status, house plants are now a common and timeless piece for adding delightful, positive energy to any abode. Read on to discover 5 of our favorite plants to incorporate into our clients’ homes!

Use a Cactus to Bring the Outdoors in, Especially in Phoenix Design

As an Arizona-based interior design firm, we love bringing the outdoors in with cacti. Available in various sizes and heights, these versatile plants can be styled on a small shelf or planted in a floor planter to maximize space in interiors with tall ceilings. In our Black Rock Project’s entryway, we added a faux cacti to fill in the wall space next to the bench and artwork.

Olive Trees Create Peace & Harmony

Symbolizing peace and harmony, we love curating serene spaces with olive trees. Investing in a realistic-looking, higher-end faux plant is key to fooling the eye of those with even the greenest of thumbs. In our Fanfol Project, we filled the corner of the large living space with this 7-foot faux olive tree from Crate and Barrel. To further personalize the plant for our space and add a dash of contrast, we planted the tree in a black, circular planter.

Vases with Stems

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’d know that vases are one of our favorite accessories to style on top of cabinets and console tables. You can take your tablescape a step further by adding real or faux branches to the vases. McGee & Co. is one of our favorite shops for sourcing dainty and delightful greenery like this! We recommend bending and fluffing the branches for an extra realistic look.

A Snake Plant is Perfect the Not-So Green Thumb

Don’t have a green thumb or aren’t in love with the look of faux plants? You’re in luck: snake plants are incredibly low maintenance and require little care in order to flourish. With the ability to survive in low light levels and without fresh water for 2-8 weeks, these eye-catching plants are perfect for incorporating authentic color into your home with ease.

Brighten and Fill Large Space with a Fig Tree

Symbolizing prosperity and wellbeing, fig trees are another great option for maximizing space in larger interiors. We love how the lush leaves can help brighten and liven up any space. In our Fanfol Project, we opted to style it in a wicker basket for a more natural, boho feel.

Rattan: A New Design Trend to Weave Into Your Interiors

Rattan: A New Design Trend to Weave Into Your Interiors

Today we’re sharing a design trend that you’re going to want to weave into your interiors ASAP. Dating back in popularity for centuries, rattan is a natural material commonly woven into wicker. Formerly used to accessorize a home’s outdoor areas, rattan is now making it’s way inside and we can’t help but swoon over the organic and serene feel it adds to a room. Read on for four ways to incorporate this trending texture into your home!

Rattan Furniture

One way we’ve been incorporating rattan into recent client projects is through furniture. In our Montevista Project, we incorporated a large rattan cabinet to serve as the focal point for this room. Our clients couldn’t get enough of the soft, textural twist this modern piece added to the space!

Rattan Accessories

If you’re not convinced you love rattan enough to commit to investing in large furniture pieces, try incorporating pops of this material into your home through accessories! Whether styled on a shelf or hung on a wall, small details, like this storage box, are perfect for bringing a touch of warmth and texture into any space.

rattan wicker accessories

Rattan Seating

In the heart of our Ironwood Project’s kitchen, we incorporated counter stools with rattan on the back rest. Subtle yet striking, this detail brought a refreshed and modern take on retro into the space. We love how it tied together the neutral tones incorporated throughout the surrounding kitchen!

Rattan Lighting

Though commonly woven into wicker, rattan is a versatile material that does not always have to be. Consider incorporating the material into your home as lighting! We styled this strong and durable vine in our Fairway Project’s family room as an intricate and modern light fixture. Chandeliers are like the jewelry of your home, and we love how this unique fixture instantly draws guests in.

Have 5 Mistakes to Avoid When Decorating Your House

Ready to switch things up and redecorate your house? Looking for tips on how to best do it? What about learning about what NOT to do? Let’s look at 5 common mistakes to avoid when decorating your house.

 living room sets

Painting as soon as Possible

Giving a fresh coat of paint can be really tempting especially if you just moved into a new place. But before repainting everything, make sure to know how you are going to decorate the room, have all your furniture in place, and spend time really understanding the space you are working with.

Do you know how it looks like throughout the day? Is it a bit too dark or is it bright enough?

Make sure to also test the color on the wall beforehand to see how it reacts with the texture and the environment of the room.

It’s important to make sure all furniture + flooring is covered prior to painting to avoid any overspray.

redecorate your house

Buying Furniture too Quickly

By trying to get everything done as quickly as possible, you might end up with a decor that isn’t what you were looking for, and furniture you don’t actually love.

Never buy furniture in a rush. Go see them once, twice, picture them in your living room. Don’t buy everything at once but incorporate things into your decor step by step. This way you will really be able to put furniture and decorative pieces together that highlight one another instead of overpowering them.

It will feel way more finished and well thought out if you take the time to live in the room and let it guide you to what you need next.

I would suggest starting with the big pieces of furniture first such as a sofa or a bed and then designing the rest of the room around it.

Try to Make Everything Match

You know those living room sets where you get everything all at once and it all looks the same? Avoid falling into that trap. If it will give a uniform look to your room it will also lack originality.

Furniture pieces don’t need to perfectly match in order to go well together. Unmatch furniture will bring a more modern look to your space.

Find some common ground amongst pieces of furniture such as wood stains, patterns, or colors to tie everything together.

decorate the room

Adding Plants at the Last Minute

If you want plants to be a part of your decor (and we recommend you to as it really adds a lot of positive energy to the room), don’t wait till the last minute when everything else already has a spot. Plants can really have an important space in your decor if you let them play their role.

Make sure to save a spot for them in the room when you are redecorating and pick plants that you can take care of properly. Don’t worry if you don’t have a green thumb, you can get low-maintenance plants such as ferns or fiddle-leaf figs.

If you don’t have a green thumb, make sure to visit a nursery to have them help select the best plant for your space given lighting conditions.

Scottsdale Interior Design

Buying Small Rugs

By having a rug that is too small for the room, you are missing on a great opportunity to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Placing a large rug under your couch or a table will help make the space feel bigger. The rug creates then a focal point and helps define the area better.

Layering multiple rugs is a great idea if one of your rugs is too small but you don’t want to get rid of it.

We love Jaipur + Loloi rugs!

Whether you are moving to a new place and need to redo everything, or you want to give your home a fresh look, don’t rush it! Learn from these common mistakes and take time to understand the space you are working with better. If you need any help and support, contact us today!

Scottsdale Interior Design

1. Get Rid of Plastic Packaging

Take the habit to remove all the plastic packaging laying in your house. -Use a soap pump for your dish soap in the kitchen and for the hand soap in the bathroom -Use mason jars for your dry condiments in the kitchen instead of the plastic bags -Use a glass water bottle instead of a plastic one. Walk around and look at all the disposable plastic packaging you have and make the switch to durable options. Not only will it look much better and will give your entire house a more modern look, but it will also help you to reduce the amount of waste you produce. You can start buying your items in bulk and transfer them to your beautiful recipients once home.

2. Use More Glass Elements

The use of glass is a great way to make your space look more modern. You can add a glass sliding door or a glass dining table or coffee table for example. Big windows are also a great hit in modern design. Since glass is a transparent material it helps to make your space look bigger and let more light in. We love to also add glass through a pretty mirror and accessories

3. Mix Neutral Colors With Dark Hues

Modern design like using the contrast between a neutral color and a dark bolder one. Having a piece of furniture that stands out or painting one wall in black in your bathroom or bedroom for example will bring attention and provide a sense of comfort to the room. For bathrooms, you can also pick dark tiles to add contrast.

4. Add Texture

Adding texture to an interior makes it look more intriguing. Change your rug, add throw pillows or blankets. We love to add texture through custom upholstery with great fabric! Drapery with an amazing textured fabric is also a great addition to your home.
Scottsdale Interior Design

5. Pick Geometric Shapes

Modern homes are characterized by their geometric shapes and straight lines. The easiest way to implement those in your home is through the furniture you pick. Choose rectangular or square furniture pieces with none or very few soft, curved lines.

6. Add Big Art Pieces

If you are afraid to turn your home into something impersonal, don’t worry. Modern doesn’t have to be cold. Pick a big piece of art that has meaning to you and can be highlighted in the room.

7. Declutter

Last but not least, to keep your space looking modern, make sure to keep it simple and decluttered. When in doubt, go for a more minimalist lifestyle. That will help keep everything tidier. Empty countertops, organized shelves, clean coffee tables… It will all work together to give your space a modern and peaceful look. Every home is different. How To Pick The Right Dining Table . Paradise Valley . Interior Design

Picking the right dining table to be both beautiful + functional in your home is paramount. That right balance between beauty and function is what will make your space work for the unique demands of your busy family and will also make your guests oh and aw when they come over for supper.

We love the juxtaposition of using chairs in one fabric and a table made from something completely different. No matching sets for us! We like to keep things interesting and mix + match. Here we used a durable velvet chair with a live edge walnut table that we had sealed for durability.

Always look for interesting detail on your kitchen table. This is likely one of the largest pieces in your home and you want it to make a statement. We fell in love with the unique stacked wood legs on this table + the contracting lacquered top.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match different tones of wood. We love how these lighter wood chairs contrast with the darker dining table. The contract makes your room feel collected and cozier.

Know your family! If you have young kiddos, don’t purchase a table that doesn’t hold up well to spills and grimy hands hoping that your children will miraculously be able to live with it. It is going to drive you crazy! There are so many kid-friendly options these days. Choose something that is both beautiful but that will also withstand the test of time for your family and ultimately make your life easier.
