Bathroom Renovation Ideas

Small Changes, Big Impact

Sometimes, the most remarkable transformations emerge from the simplest of changes. Consider starting your bathroom renovation by updating key elements such as faucets, hardware, and lighting. Swapping outdated pieces for modern, sleek alternatives can instantly breathe new life into your space. Imagine the play of light against glistening metal or the convenience of a stylish, functional faucet that enhances both form and function.

For an additional touch of elegance, experiment with different materials and textures. Incorporate natural stone countertops or artisanal tiles to infuse a sense of luxury into your bathroom. These small changes rejuvenate the aesthetic appeal and elevate your daily routine into a pampering experience.

    Lighting and Color Palette

Lighting is the easiest and quickest way to start your bathroom renovations. The right lighting can dramatically transform the ambiance of your bathroom. Opt for a layered lighting approach, combining ambient, task, and accent lighting to create a multifaceted, soothing atmosphere. Consider installing dimmer switches to tailor the lighting intensity according to your mood or time of day.

Moreover, the color palette you choose can significantly impact the overall vibe of the space. Soft, muted tones like tranquil blues, calming greens, or neutral earthy shades can evoke a sense of relaxation. Combine these colors with natural materials to establish a connection with the outdoors, promoting an environment of harmony and balance.

    Mirrors and Glass

Another easy bathroom renovation idea for those working with limited space is that strategically placed mirrors and glass can open up the room, making it feel more expansive. Large mirrors serve their functional purpose and reflect light, adding brightness and depth to the area. Additionally, consider glass shower enclosures that eliminate visual barriers, making the room appear more airy and spacious.

It might be time for a redesign if your kitchen feels lacking and needs to be updated. Welcome to Living With Lolo, where we’re here to inspire you with some fantastic kitchen redesign ideas. Kitchen Redesign Idea #1 – Open Concept Living

Consider the kitchen redesign trend of open-concept living. Living With Lolo can help you decide if knocking down walls or installing pass-through windows is right for you. These enhancements create a seamless flow between your kitchen and adjacent living spaces. These changes enhance your home’s visual appeal and promote interaction among family members and guests.

Open-concept kitchens are perfect for entertaining, allowing you to chat with guests while preparing meals. Opt for a cohesive color scheme and matching décor in the kitchen and adjoining areas to tie it all together. The result will be a spacious, inviting, and friendly environment that transforms your daily cooking routine into a shared experience crafted by Living With Lolo.

Kitchen Redesign Idea #2 – Wood Tone Kitchen Cabinets

The trending natural look for cabinets in 2023 is medium wood tones. Living With Lolo will guide you as you consider replacing your old cabinets with sleek, warm, natural ones. You can choose styles, from classic shaker cabinets to modern flat-panel designs, to match your kitchen aesthetic. Stained glass panels and unique hardware are some other kitchen cabinet trends that Living With Lolo can assist you with during your kitchen redesign.

Of course, Living With Lolo knows you can never go wrong with a classic white cabinet. We suggest pairing your traditional white cabinets with contrasting countertops, like dark granite or warm wood, to create a balanced and sophisticated look. Remember to upgrade your cabinet hardware for a fresh, updated feel. White cabinets make your kitchen feel timeless and serve as a versatile canvas for future décor changes.

Smart ovens and cooktops can be controlled from your smartphone, allowing you to preheat your oven on the way home.

Another clever addition is a voice-activated assistant, like Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant, which can set timers, provide recipe instructions, and answer questions while you cook. These smart appliances and Living With Lolo’s redesign expertise can enhance your kitchen’s functionality and add a touch of modernity and convenience to your daily cooking routine.

Kitchen Renovation Ideas To Inspire Your Next Home Refresh

In need of kitchen renovation ideas? We’re here to help. Curating the perfect space in your home can feel overwhelming, and a full kitchen renovation is no different. With influence from countless inspiration sources, even small decisions can build on the stress of a project.

As a full-service interior design firm, we understand that there are many factors to take into account when renovating your kitchen, whether it be based on style or function. Read on for our go-to kitchen renovation ideas to simplify your project.

      modern kitchen design

Kitchen Renovation Idea #1: Balance Beauty and Functionality With Your Appliances

The appliances you choose to install during your kitchen renovation can significantly improve the functionality and livability of your home. They should make your life comfortable and add convenience, while also adding seemingly effortless style. Because we knew the clients of our Fairway Project were avid coffee drinkers, we added a pre-plumbed coffee machine to anticipate their daily needs and serve as a simple luxury in their kitchen.

Other luxury kitchen renovation ideas you may want to consider include adding a:

      • Wine cooler
      • Pot filler faucet
      • Double ovens
      • Butler’s pantry
      • Smoothie bar
      • And more!

Kitchen Renovation Idea #2: Create Cohesion Through Countertops, Cabinets, and Hardware

When brainstorming kitchen renovation ideas, it’s important to keep in mind that you’ll want the space to be cohesive with the remainder of your home. Cohesion is essential in preventing various spaces from feeling out of place. As the heart of the home, kitchens are an ideal way to create consistency throughout your home’s design.

A simple technique to curate harmonious yet unique spaces is to incorporate the same details or colorways across interiors. For example, in our Bronco Project, we used the same black cabinetry, hardware, and countertops in the kitchen in the bathroom areas as well. Implementing your kitchen renovation ideas with cohesion in mind can transform your home into an effortlessly beautiful and functional space.

Kitchen Renovation Idea #3: Incorporate Seating With Performance Fabric

When narrowing down your kitchen renovation ideas, avoid the mistake of cutting corners in order to save money. Frugality can be a useful tool, but sacrificing craftsmanship in your kitchen renovations or home overall can lead you to make investments that are not worthwhile.

For instance, when it comes to choosing seating for your kitchen renovation, it’s important to find pieces that are not only comfortable and align with your personal style but also guarantee durability. While your furniture should be beautiful, it shouldn’t be so delicate that it becomes impractical. Utilizing fabrics that are stain-resistant and easy to clean makes your kitchen renovation investment worthwhile. That’s why we love incorporating performance fabric into our projects, so our clients can enjoy stunning seating without the discomfort of worrying about instant wear and tear.

Design Ideas for Your Fresh Start

Nothing is more exciting than interior design for your new home! Picture this: you’re thrilled to move into your brand new home, then, you realize — you have to decorate your entire space from scratch. Although the endless possibilities are exciting, they’re simultaneously overwhelming. Luckily, you’re in the right place. Read on to unlock three new home interior design ideas from a top luxury interior design firm.

Tailor Your Home For Your Unique Needs With Custom Furniture

Your new home interior design and layout may be unique. Meaning, there are new curves and corners to account for that your previous furniture may no longer be appropriate for. Sourcing custom furniture is the ideal solution to ill-fitting pieces.

In our Alyssa Lane Project, we customized a couch with a one-of-a-kind curve to accommodate the living room’s layout perfectly. Not only was the shape a flawless fit, but we incorporated the perfect color and fabric for the upholstery to match what our clients wished for to a tee. Picking these customizations also allowed us to ensure that this piece was a durable fit for this family to live comfortably.

Pick A Color Scheme or Finish To Incorporate Throughout Your Home

Consistency is key in your new home interior design project! Coordinating colors, textures, and finishes from room-to-room helps tell a cohesive story and express your boldest self. No matter the style, integrating a sense of uniformity within the subtle details of your interior design will help create cohesion in the story your home tells. This can be done by using the same hardware across all the cabinetry and metalware in your home or adding the same pops of color or texture in your rooms. We utilize this strategy in every new home interior design project.

Take a look at our One Hundred Hills Project, for example. When planning its concept, we were captivated by black tones and added the hue in the details throughout the entire space. Our vision included black details in the tables, door and window frames, and beyond! We added some variation by consistently using neutral, tan shades in the cabinetry, kitchen seating, and overall decor. No matter the medium, working in a continuous color palette across rooms is the key to an intentional and consistent feel in your new home interior design.

Modern kitchen with white cabinets, stainless steel appliances, a large island with four wooden barstools, and pendant lights—Living with Lolo.

Add Touches Of Contrast In Each Space To Make It Captivating

Creating cohesiveness in your new home interior design is essential, but you want to avoid monotony. Our go-to solution to this problem is incorporating contrast. The possibilities are infinite when it comes to strategizing distinctive decor. You can use hardware, tile, rugs, or art in any room to break up the uniformity that can result from following your chosen color scheme.

Our Hidden Hills Project serves as great inspiration for incorporating contrast in your new home interior design project. The entire concept features a neutral color palette with an emphasis on tan and white shades. However, it showcases pops of black in the window frames and small decor pieces. To create an even more captivating design, we incorporated a burnt orange accent wall that peeks through the living room and refines the space. Adding variation through details — big or small — can transform your new home interior design project!

Understanding and Planning Your Kitchen Renovation Costs

Kitchen Renovation Costs are a common question when embarking on the journey of designing your dream kitchen. At Living With Lolo we can make it an exciting endeavor. We’re committed to helping you turn your kitchen visions into reality while also keeping your budget in mind. Let’s delve into the various factors influencing kitchen renovation costs, providing insights and ideas to create a culinary haven without breaking the bank.

Modern kitchen with an island, four black chairs, light wood cabinets, built-in appliances, large windows, and pendant lighting—Living with Lolo.

Understanding the Essentials: Breaking Down Kitchen Renovation Costs

Before diving into the specifics, it’s crucial to recognize that kitchen renovation costs can vary significantly based on factors such as the size of your space, the extent of the renovations, and the materials you choose. At Living With Lolo, we’ll work within your budget to help you transform your space into a chef’s dream.

The primary components contributing to the cost include cabinetry, countertops, appliances, flooring, and labor. Cabinets tend to be a substantial portion of the budget, and their material, style, and size can influence their price. Similarly, high-quality countertops like granite or quartz can also drive up costs, although they offer durability and elegance that can be well worth the investment.

Creativity in Cost Savings: Smart Strategies in Kitchen Renovation

While kitchen renovation costs can add up, there are various ways to achieve your dream kitchen without overspending. Here are some cost-effective strategies to consider:

Refacing Cabinets: Instead of entirely replacing cabinets, consider refacing them by changing doors and drawer fronts. New hardware can quickly give your kitchen a fresh look at a fraction of the cost.

Mixing Materials: Opt for a combination of high-end and more budget-friendly materials. For example, you might splurge on premium countertops while choosing more affordable flooring options.

Open Shelving: Introducing open shelves in place of upper cabinets can be both stylish and cost-effective. It reduces the need for costly cabinetry while adding a trendy touch to your kitchen.

Our past journal talks about  how to make your home look more modern in only 5 tips. It’s easy to control kitchen renovation costs with Living With Lolo.

They say the best things come in threes, so to complement the pre-existing hard finishes, we hung three large, black pendants above the island. We love the impact this detail added to this otherwise light and bright kitchen!

Balancing beauty and functionality, we added counter stools featuring a stunning texture made of performance fabric. This detail is crucial for family homes to ensure easy clean up and lasting durability.

In the breakfast nook adjacent to the kitchen, we added beautiful custom drapery and a custom rod to fit the space’s curved windows. No home is the same, so we love being able to lean on our connections with trusted vendors to incorporate unique pieces tailored to each of our clients’ needs.

To complement the black lighting from the kitchen, we also added a black, rattan pendant above the dining table. Surrounding the great oak dining table, we, of course, opted to include chairs made with performance fabric as well.

Just beyond the kitchen is our clients’ family room. To fit the scale of the space, we added a custom sofa on top of a large, vintage-style rug. Further furnishing the space, we added a round coffee table. We’re swooning over the luxury interior design and organic feel that the natural pine wood brought into the space!

Wine and dine, anyone? Because our clients love wine, we knew we had to add statement wine shelving above the dining room’s custom sideboard to serve as the focal point of the interior when guests walk in.

Additionally, to suit our clients’ entertainment needs, we needed to comfortably seat 10 people in the space, so we added a large, modern dining table made of mixed materials: wood and brass. This beautifully mirrors the brass detailing on the back of the surrounding dining chairs. Like the seating in the kitchen and breakfast nook, we made it a priority to incorporate dining chairs made of performance fabric as well.

This project’s primary bedroom is one of our favorites! As a backdrop for the space, we added wooden detailing topped with deep blue paint on the back wall. Contrasting this statement color, we added an off-white custom rug that was large enough to fill up the space for an additional dash of coziness. To draw the attention upward and highlight the home’s tall ceilings, we centered a canopy bed in between two wide nightstands. Who else loves the subtle pop of texture the bed’s herringbone pattern and lamps’ cement base add to the room?

             luxury interior design

To provide our client with an ample amount of working room in her office, we incorporated a large desk that was actually created to be a dining table! The table’s length allows for two guests to be comfortably seated side by side.

Next, we added beautiful shelving and sideboards for storage. We love how these cabinet designs balance form and function. Lastly, for the jewelry of the space, we added a black metal light with intricate glass detailing.

            Bronco Part 2

            Bronco Part 2

Recently on the blog, we shared a sneak peek inside our Bronco Project, a North Scottsdale interior design project that doubles as our CEO’s home and an office space for the Living With Lolo Team! Today, we’re finally unveiling the remainder of the home! Keep reading for a look inside this beautiful abode.

            Chairs-https://rstyle.me/+usPo4wnHxncRJCh37qufPA

We extended a one-of-a-kind feel throughout the home with custom interior design elements that best fit the style and personality of our CEO.

Centering the primary bedroom, we added a custom upholstered bed with a fun abstract pattern painted across it! While we kept the surrounding fabrics neutral, we added a pop of color as the backdrop for this space with this gorgeous wallpaper from Quercus & Co. We love how it brought life into the room in a muted and sophisticated way.

At the foot of the bed, we added two elegant hardwood chairs to fill the remainder of the space with comfort and style. For finishing touches, we also styled a rug, custom nightstands, and custom Roman shades for an additional dash of cozy.

            Bench-https://rstyle.me/+CODW-ucZ6Koo-dttFDzTRA

In the primary bathroom, we incorporated the same black-stained oak cabinetry with push-to-open mechanisms found in the kitchen. The push-to-open cabinetry allows for no visible hardware, creating an ultra-sleek, modern look. The white quartz countertops and marble flooring add a gorgeous shine and contrast to the space.

To warm up the space, we added an Annie Selke runner and natural elm bench. This detail sprinkled in some beauty and functionality into the bathroom. For some more inspiration on how to incorporate benches into your interiors, check out the 5 bench styles we love!

Lastly, our CEO obviously knows what interior dreams are made of! Because she envisioned a spa just outside the primary bathroom, we added a large slider to connect the two spaces and bring an indoor-outdoor feel into the bathroom.

This luxurious fixture on the ceiling has to be our favorite part of the master bathroom! Can you blame us?

            Bed-https://rstyle.me/+PG7FqM7Kzcffx1hbOUvvZQ

This project’s guest bedroom is made to appeal to any visitor! This beautiful cane and wood bed creates a fun and modern feel. The pillows, Loloi rug, and gorgeous custom artwork tie it all together for a cozy overnight stay.

            Coffee Table-https://rstyle.me/+9bLuIfw5GuVJgnx8CeAMBg

Our CEO wanted to create a gorgeous, yet inviting space where her family can unwind and watch movies. This chic hangout room is the perfect spot to sit back and relax! The custom olive sofa is to die for and was built for comfort.

Centering this room is a bold, minimalistic coffee table with an intricate texture. Large and spacious, it is the ideal spot for her son to hangout and build puzzles. For a vibrant pop of color and personality, we added fun artwork and custom drapery.

            Sideboard-https://www.chairish.com/product/4761312/yael-sideboard-in-sandy-ash?clickId=5115150524

At Living with Lolo, we are all about having functional, livable spaces that are full of beauty, life and character. The sandy ash sideboards make a show-stopping statement and add ample storage to the room.

Is this rug Loloi? If so, need to tag to fulfill partnership requirements

We value creating spaces that are unique and distinctive. This powder room room is the perfect example of fun, yet sophisticated and was so much fun for us to design.

The wallpaper is a unique, handpainted print with purple and moth tones. For consistency, we painted the same color on the baseboards and ceiling, and even used the same quartz from the kitchen on the 12-inch floating vanity.

After living in this beautiful Scottsdale home for several years, our clients wanted to bring a more unique, contemporary feel to their spaces through a complete remodel. Read on for a first glimpse inside our latest Scottsdale interior design project, Hidden Hills!

To best serve the needs of this family, we added luxury vinyl flooring with a white oak finish throughout the home as it is extremely durable. Its resistance to stains, bacteria, water, and mold make it the perfect option for clients with pets or children.

To make the warm woods and furniture in the home really pop, we painted all of the walls and baseboards a beautiful white shade called Chantilly Lace. In the entryway, it’s a beautiful and bright contrast to the cane console table, ceramic lamp, and handmade art.

            https://rstyle.me/+jGgZcZpVnfvgP4tPjtF3Dg– Chairs

In the family room, we added rift cut white oak cabinets and floating shelves styled with some of our favorite accessories. Adjacent to the shelves, we added a custom cement fluted fireplace as the focal point for the space. We love how this piece balances both statement and subtle!

We pride ourselves on creating designs that are personalized just for our clients. To fit the scale of their large family room, we added two custom sofas: one leather and one in a white performance, linen-like fabric.

The two sofa styles surround a black marble console table and two accent chairs. To draw the eye upward, we hung a beautiful brass chandelier, which is a metal found in various accents throughout the home.

To open the family room up to the backyard, we replaced windows with a 20-foot, sliding door.  We love how this detail brought the sunlight and nearby mountain views in!

            https://rstyle.me/+lvGscLjBmrF48lACTdkZmw– Mirror

We encourage clients to step out of their comfort zones by being brave and bold with their style, but in an approachable, fun, empowering way. In this project’s powder bathroom, we added a fun cement tile with an abstract graphic print.

Complementing the black and white tones found in the pattern, we added black mirror and a vanity made of black metal and a marble top. Lastly, for a pop of color, we  added a beautiful sage green grass cloth wallpaper.

Thoughtfully selecting show-stopping luxury pieces that embody our clients’ personality is one of our favorite parts of the design process. One interior design trend that we always feature in our projects is statement modern pendants.

5 Rug Style Trends We Love in 2023 to Elevate Interior Design

5 Rug Style Trends We Love in 2023 to Elevate Interior Design

Looking to find your footing when it comes to home design? Rugs are one of our go-to pieces to ground and define an interior. Whether you’re wanting to connect or divide a space, rugs are great for adding intention and warmth to your home. Keep reading for a look at five rugs we recently styled in our interior design projects!

            Geometric Rugs Make a Statement

            geometric rug style trends

An entryway is where first impressions are made, so it’s important that it sets the tone for the rest of the home. Combining modern and Moroccan, this geometric rug’s pop of pattern is the perfect way to draw guests into our Montevista Project.

We know how intimidating prints can be for homeowners, but oftentimes pattern is just what the interior needs to make a memorable statement. Featuring the same black and ivory tones found in nearby details, this geometric rug added a beautiful and balanced feel to our project’s entryway.

Bonus: the durable weave made it an ideal piece for a high-traffic space like this one!

Solid Rugs Can be Stylish without Being Boring

            solid textured rug trends

We’re all about incorporating color and pattern in an approachable way, like we did in our 83rd Place project. In a neutral interior like this one, a rug with a pop of color is great to style alongside quieter elements as it keeps the design interesting and eclectic without going over the top. The over-tufted dot design also adds a subtle and intriguing texture to the space. Who said solids have to be boring?

Hide Rugs are Not Going Out Style

            cowhide rug style trend

When it came to adding sophistication and comfort to our Calle de Pompas Project, we looked no further than this cowhide rug. Its organic shape was a beautiful complement to the dining space’s small circular table. The rug’s natural texture and dark tones also added a warm and masculine touch to the interior.

Elegant Black and White Rugs are Always a Good Idea

            black and white rug

High-contrast and high-impact color palettes are our love language, so it’s no wonder why this black and white rug was love at first sight for us. Its sleek and elegant colorway is just what our Silverleaf project’s entryway needed to draw guests in.

How to Style with a Jute Rug

how to style a textured jute rug

We love combining chic, contemporary style with relaxed, approachable comfort. That’s why in our Ironwood Project’s primary bathroom, our goal was to create a serene, organic feel with touches of glam throughout. This textured jute rug gave us the best of both worlds! Its high contrast made a statement, while its natural texture kept the space feeling simple and grounded.

Our Top Tips For Mixing Decor Styles . Scottsdale AZ . Interior Design

We often call our style eclectic because we love mixing various styles! Our goal is always to create a space that is cohesive where you cannot tell you are blending different styles.

Here are our top tips for successfully mixing different décor styles together.

Pick a few colors + focus on them

Even if you are decorating with one style, we prefer to keep colors simple! Pick one or 2 colors only per space and use them in different ways and with different textures. Layer the colors and textures to achieve an effortless look. If you are using a coffee table that has a modern feel, pick your occasional chairs in a more contemporary feel in a similar or coordinating color. Always start with neutrals and layer your color on top.

Silverleaf, Scottsdale + Interior Design Scottsdale

modern farmhouse meets contemporary, Scottsdale Interior Design

            Choose an inspiration piece

Start with one item you love and repeat an element in the item but by incorporating a different style. For example, If you find a sofa you love with curved legs, incorporate more curves in the lighting, coffee table, art, etc but feel free to mix up the styles. The repetition of the element will bring it all together. Focus on about 80% of your decor being from one style and 20% being from another.

Silverleaf, Scottsdale + Interior Design Scottsdale

a vintage bench with modern frames + lighting, Scottsdale Interior Design

Use art to help blend styles

Adding art in a contrasting style is a great way to effortlessly start blending styles in a space and to make it look cohesive. If you have a traditional space, don’t be afraid to add a more abstract contemporary piece and visa versa.

            paradise valley interior design

modern abstract art mixed with more traditional pieces, Scottsdale Interior Design

            Mix your materials

Don’t be overly concerned with being matchy! In fact, we prefer not to be! If you are using a marble table, incorporate some vintage rattan chairs or another piece with great vintage feel and texture. Just make sure that everything repeats at least once! If you incorporate marble make sure something else in the room is marble- it can even be an accessory!

            paradise valley interior design

contemporary lighting and chairs with a more traditional table, Scottsdale Interior Design

            What not to do

            Don’t buy coordinating furniture sets

Don’t assume that you can only design your house in the style of the architecture of the home

Don’t use the same color, fabric, pattern or finish in the various pieces you chose

Don’t be afraid to take risks and think outside the box when designing your home!

How to Create The Perfect Powder Room. Scottsdale AZ . Interior Design

            Powder Room Magic

A powder room can often be a forgotten space, however, it is
a great opportunity to have some fun with design, adding a low commitment,
            whimsical or bold touch.

Here are some easy and creative ways to spruce up your
            powder room:

Wallpaper:  Because a powder room is generally a smaller space, an investment in beautiful wallpaper is cost-effective, so splurging is a must.  For example:

Our ‘Fresh, Fantastic and Fun on 1st Street’ powder room, golden-patterned wallpaper by Hygge and West adds a Hollywood Glam / Art Deco feel to a pint-sized powder room, complemented by brass accents in the light fixture and oversized, round mirror by Anthropologie.

            Modern-Powder-room-scaled

            Tiles:

Have fun with tiles!  A fully tiled backsplash in unexpected colors and patterns adds a breath of fresh air to what could be an otherwise bland space.  We absolutely love this Complementto bathroom with a delightful, large lilac scale pattern accented by sharp black hardware and a clean, light wood countertop.

            Modern-Powder-Room-Mirror-scaled

            Hardware:

Brightly colored bathroom hardware adds a quirky, retro, touch – such as these multi-colored, 1970s style faucets in a bathroom by Freunden von Freunden.

The most important thing to remember when designing or
renovating a powder room is that it’s a perfect opportunity to branch out of
your comfort zone, in a low stake but super impactful way!  So GO FOR IT!
