Contemporary living room with large windows, beige sectional sofa, black coffee table, and wooden floor—Living with Lolo.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Designed as a full-time family residence in Scottsdale, Casa Sereno is a complete home transformation created for a young family seeking calm sophistication without sacrificing functionality. Rooted in a Modern Southwest aesthetic, the home blends warm neutrals, organic textures, curated artwork, and subtle green accents to create a serene yet livable environment.

Every design decision was made with real life in mind. Built for full-time living with children and a beloved pug, durability and performance were thoughtfully integrated into each selection. A tranquil primary suite offers a place to decompress, while the layered family room fosters everyday connection. A statement library and bar were tailored for entertaining, balancing refinement with warmth.

Integrated smart technology enhances ease of living, and architectural detailing paired with high-quality finishes elevates the overall experience. The result is a refined sanctuary that supports both restorative quiet and vibrant family life.

Construction was led by our in-house general contracting team, ensuring seamless coordination between trades and design intent.

DESIGN GOALS

Throughout our design process for Casa Sereno, we focused on creating a calm, sophisticated home that supports vibrant family life while embodying a refined Modern Southwest aesthetic. Every decision was rooted in balancing serenity and functionality, ensuring the home feels restorative, intentional, and deeply livable.

Calm Sophistication: Create a serene, elevated environment using warm neutrals, organic textures, curated artwork, and subtle green accents to reflect a Modern Southwest sensibility.

Family-Centered Functionality: Design spaces that support full-time living with children and pets, blending durability and performance with a polished aesthetic.

Retreat + Connection: Craft a tranquil primary suite for rest and decompression while designing layered living areas that foster gathering, conversation, and everyday connection.

Entertaining with Intention: Develop statement moments, such as the library and bar, that feel tailored and memorable while remaining cohesive with the overall home.

Integrated Technology: Incorporate smart home features that enhance ease of living without disrupting the home’s warmth and architectural character.

Elevated Architectural Detail: Introduce thoughtful millwork, high-quality finishes, and refined detailing that quietly elevate the experience of each space.

This approach reflects our commitment to designing homes that feel grounded, restorative, and beautifully equipped for modern family life.

DESIGN CHALLENGES

The primary focus of Project Casa Sereno was balancing refined minimalism with the realities of full-time family living. The homeowners desired a calm, elevated aesthetic rooted in Modern Southwest design, while also needing a space that could withstand the demands of young children and a beloved pug.

Refined Yet Resilient Materials: Carefully source performance fabrics and durable finishes that maintain a soft, organic look while supporting everyday wear and tear. Achieving a serene, hotel-like primary suite and an elevated family room required materials that feel luxurious but are never precious.

Cohesive Modern Southwest Vision: Maintain a consistent aesthetic throughout the home, blending warm neutrals, layered textures, curated artwork, and subtle green accents without disrupting the calming foundation of the design.

Integrated Technology Without Disruption: Seamlessly incorporate smart lighting and home technology into an organic, architectural environment — ensuring functionality enhances, rather than competes with, the design.

Statement Spaces with Practicality: Design a dedicated library/bar that delivers moody sophistication while remaining family-friendly and cohesive with the overall home.

Supply Chain Agility: Navigate supply chain timelines through proactive planning and flexible sourcing to maintain design integrity while meeting project deadlines.

This approach allowed Casa Sereno to evolve into a refined sanctuary that feels serene and architecturally intentional, while fully supporting vibrant, modern family life and a highly strategic execution timeline in line with other projects in our portfolio.

Before After

This once builder-grade living room was transformed into a layered, serene retreat grounded in warmth and architectural intention. The fireplace was simplified with a clean-lined surround and curated mantel styling, while custom window treatments add softness and depth. A sculptural light fixture now anchors the vaulted ceiling, and a rich wood console introduces contrast against the lighter upholstery, creating balance and visual weight. Thoughtfully selected furnishings, organic ceramics, and layered textiles warm the previously stark space, resulting in a cohesive, modern environment that feels elevated yet inviting for both relaxed family living and effortless entertaining.
