DESIGN GOALS
Our design goals centered on creating a space that evolved with the family’s changing style preferences while maintaining the highest standards of family-friendly interior design. The project needed to balance aesthetic sophistication with practical performance.
- Blending Current Design Trends with Timeless Style: Update the space with current design trends while maintaining timeless appeal
- Evaluate New Vendors and Products Before Client Specification: Test out some new vendor relationships and products before specifying for client projects
- Pet-Friendly Durability: Incorporate pet-friendly and child-safe materials suitable for active North Scottsdale lifestyles
- Refresh the Space: Create warmer, more masculine elements to reflect the growing family
- Create a Multifunctional Space: Serve dual purpose as both family home and design showroom
This approach reflects our deep understanding of Scottsdale family design needs, particularly in neighborhoods like DC Ranch, Silverleaf, and Desert Mountain where homes must perform beautifully for both daily living and entertaining.
DESIGN CHALLENGES
The primary challenges involved maintaining design cohesion while replacing underperforming elements from previous installations. Working within the existing architectural framework required creative solutions.
- Sourcing to fit existing pieces: Sourcing large-scale rugs appropriate for the generous room proportions typical of North Scottsdale homes + Ensuring proper counter stool height for the substantial 3-inch stone slab island
- Managing Timeline: Managing project timeline coordination with photography and videography schedules + Working with local Scottsdale contractors to achieve unconventional solutions like the beam wallpaper application
- Maintaing Balance: Balancing the preservation of successful existing elements with necessary updates
The project timeline flexibility ultimately became an advantage, allowing for the innovative beam treatment that has become a signature element. Our construction management expertise enabled seamless coordination of all trades throughout the North Scottsdale area.→
The transformed family room now features rich, organic materials and sophisticated color palette. Custom upholstered walnut chairs serve as sculptural art pieces, while the dual-scale coffee table arrangement in textured mango wood adds unexpected visual interest and functionality for this active family.
